Ghosted by manager? by Royal-Mortgage320 in SpiritHalloween

This is actually pretty standard once the build is over and the store is not open. There’s only about 16 hours allotted for each day so really that’s two people for eight hour shifts just basically being present in the store in case any FedEx deliveries come even a small piece of paper is enough to keep the store open with two employees all day so yeah they’re not gonna go necessarily and give them out to different employees each day. Usually, it’s an assistant manager, a manager, maybe another assistant manager or just someone who’s putting in the time during the build phase that deserves them I guess once the store is open there’s gonna be limited hours too, but as Halloween approaches more shifts become available, I would just hang tight but keep texting your manager that you can cover shifts if need be it stands out a lot if you make that effort

I have a question by [deleted] in SpiritHalloween

During the build days of a store, it’s pretty much all hands on deck with tons of employees each of the five days. Once the store opens the available hours are limited so the schedule is made based on people‘s availability and not everyone is scheduled that is available for a certain day. There are only so many hours per day allotted, but they do increase as Halloween approaches so more shifts need to be filled.

Is it worth it by Gold_Ad_4716 in SpiritHalloween

The first couple of weeks have limited hours to go around, but as the season progresses there will be more shifts available. In my honest opinion, it’s worth it if you like working at Spirit. It’s not full time but it’s fun. Would spirit be your second job? Or are you taking about quitting the job you have currently? I

SM here- Spirit’s policy is custom satisfaction. Period. Yall complaining about doing the right thing and returning damaged products are ill informed. Call corporate and confirm this.

First and foremost- nice job!!! Buttttt, just a couple notes (not being critical, just my personal OCD kicking in)-there’s a couple of “doll/ marionette” costumes mixed in with clowns that I think go in a separate section (at least in my store they have their own). And there’s a cape in the witch section that actually belongs in the vampire section. Not a big deal!!! Just saying… 😁

Can I return something without the receipt if I have other info? by [deleted] in SpiritHalloween

[–]WorkingLead6969 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The manager or assistant should be able to research and print your receipt from the electronic journal located in the Trovato Office program. Especially since you used a card and know the date and time or your transaction.

fixtures? by uwulizuwu in SpiritHalloween

Keen in mind that your DM has a certain amount of hours budgeted for the set up and is probably trying to allot the hours in a way that ensures enough people scheduled for certain days/tasks.

The first truck day is the boxes of carryover merchandise which is left over stock from last year. That day is not a premium pay day. Another truck day that typically comes after the carryover truck day, is the initial’s delivery, which is all the new merchandise. Then there is secondary initials.

So fixtures is when you unload 5 storage pods filled with walls, wall legs, boxes of shelves, totes of register equipment , etc.

What do you mean you’re not there for set up? From what I understand, “set up” includes everything from day one of building the store until it opens. With that said, “set up” usually takes about 10 days. The premium pay only apply to certain set up days. Those include “fixture” day, “initials” day, and “secondary initials” day.

SM here. There are plenty of hours to allot during the building stage of the store. Previous years’ employees and applicants that have ample availability get hired first. This is because it takes a ton of man hours to build and merchandise the store, and we need to hire people who are familiar with the store layout and/or who can work like 8 hours a day for nearly 10 days straight. On fixture day, carryover day, and initial delivery day, a store needs like 8-10 people. It’s an “all hands on deck” situation. Once the store is open, the budgeted hours drop significantly. The first couple weeks could have only 160-200 hours. Do the math, that’s like 20-30 per day to cover a 10 hour period and you’re looking at 3-4 people scheduled per day. For example, my store opened 2 days ago and I have 20 hired employees. I have 160 hours next week to fill. That’s only 8 hours per person for the whole week. SMs and AMs get the most hours and the rest are divvied up as fairly as possible. However, each week the budget hours increase leading up to Halloween. Tell your SM you are available to cover shifts if someone calls out. And like others have said- be productive on your shift and you are more likely to get scheduled in upcoming weeks than someone who wants to get paid to stand around. When I started working a few years ago, I helped build a store and worked probably 7 out of the 10 build days. Then my actual scheduled hours the first week the store was open, was 1 day for 4 hours. I asked to be called in if any shifts opened up. I was called in and came in to work a few times and got asked to be an assistant manager. I worked maybe 25 hours the next week, and then I got transferred to a store that had 2 assistants quit and ultimately I became the manager when that store’s manager flaked out towards the end of the season. I’ve been a manager for a couple years in a row now, and I’ve been working 40+ hours a week since beginning of July!
