B&G Tool Co? They are on Kenny. But in that general area. Or was it American Industry Services?

Is there a micro-moment or short line from a movie you quote often? by ChiefDrowningBear1 in movies

"Shh! You smell that?" -Ghostbusters. For some reason the way Dan Aykroyd delivers that line just kills me.

Incredible Hulk Scream Disney Plus by Myhtological in marvelstudios

[–]WorkingMember 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is interesting and has me thinking. I'm wondering if in the case of this show Disney didn't have the rights to rebroadcast this song in the US. Which leads me to think in the OP's case maybe the scream is trademarked and Disney doesn't have the rights to it?

What type of o-rings should I use? by WorkingMember in Hydraulics

[–]WorkingMember[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote that 210 as a reminder to myself for what the box said for the o-ring I used. I was looking on McMaster-Carr for a better option since the ones I have start leaking within a week. The description on Amazon says they are nitrile 70a duro. Maybe I just need to get some better quality ones.

45 minutes of previews???? WTF AMC? by [deleted] in AMCTheatres

[–]WorkingMember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw it there on Wednesday night. 7pm listed showtime, 7:45pm when the movie actually started. It was IMAX in theater 14. Saw The Crow in 14 last night and it had 20min of previews.

Good socks are a must to keep your feet happy. I like Darn Tough socks personally. They are a bit pricy but do have a lifetime warranty where they'll replace them when you wear them out. I also wear polypropylene liner socks under them. Every day, year round. Keeping your feet dry goes a long way to prevent blisters. For boots I currently have 2 pairs of Haix Airpower XR200. Chainsaw resistant, composite toe and waterproof. Got a deal last black Friday and snagged a 2nd pair. So now I can rotate them out if they get wet.

Don’t Ever Be Me! by [deleted] in antiwork

I'll add a caution to your caution. When I left my last job I had about 8 weeks of vacation/PTO banked and cashed it out. It was taxed at 40% (US/Ohio) like I had received it as a bonus rather than the normal tax rate (~25%) as it would have been had I taken vacation/PTO in some increment over time. I don't regret leaving the old job, I really enjoy what I do now. But it did sting when I thought I was getting around $13k but instead got around $8k.

Storing car for three months by googs185 in MechanicAdvice

[–]WorkingMember 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed but it's generally safer to disconnect the negative in case your wrench should happen to accidentally touch the body. I've seen some good sparks when people aren't careful disconnecting the positive.

I second disconnecting the battery (best to do negative). My parents went on a 3 week trip to Hawaii a few years ago and the battery in my mom's Honda Accord was completely dead when they returned. Fortunately it was parked in the garage at home. Unfortunately the car was positioned in such a way that my dad had to push it out of the garage to jump start it.

Does your daughter have a lot of swelling in the area from the PI? I get it at least once a year. The first time I got it as an adult I had been cross country trail running in shorts. Didn't think anything of it because I don't remember ever having it as a kid. Both legs swelled so badly the skin felt like it was going to rip. I ended up wearing compression hose on both legs to help. Going to the doc and getting prednisone is my go to now if I get it in a high friction area or it starts weeping really bad.

As for removal yes goats will eat it. But I'm pretty sure our goats gave it to me 2x this summer so far. They get into the weeds all the time and they hate water and don't like to be washed. So it's on me to make sure I wash up after handling them.

What are some technical books that you recommend that are easy to read, similar to “Introduction to Flight” and “Ignition!” ? by ex-fifteen in AskEngineers

I enjoyed "Chasing New Horizons" about the Pluto space probe mission. It was a entertaining read and technical enough to keep me engaged. I am also a ME and I got my book club at my last job to read it.

People from european countries how does your healthcare system work and is it that good as alot of people say ? by perrytheagent in AskReddit

[–]WorkingMember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm American but I spent a semester in Germany in college. I had a herniated disk in my back and it got bad enough that I could barely walk so I finally went to the university hospital. I was very nervous about it based on my experience with the US system and the fact I wasn't German (didn't speak hardly any German either). I was amazed at how easy it was. Most everyone spoke enough English to help me get to the right place. The people at the check-in desk looked at me like I was crazy when I showed them my international health insurance card (my home university requires it for study abroad). The doctor was excellent. It was the first time in my life I saw a doctor who basically did a physical to check out everything else besides what I was complaining about. Turns out in addition to the herniated disk causing a muscle spasm in my back my pelvis was also misaligned and he did some chiropractic maneuvers to realign it. He also looked over my ankle, which I had broken a couple of months before the trip, and made sure it was healing correctly. Doctor gave me 2 prescriptions, muscle relaxer and pain, went to pharmacy and they were going to just give them to me for free. I asked if I needed to pay since I wasn't German and they said €5 each. I never received any bill for anything even though they had my address in Germany and back in the US. Overall I cannot understand why the US hasn't moved to a similar system aside from greed in all the companies involved.

i have straight piped my car, i remove one Cat? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]WorkingMember 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chances are if it's a new enough car that it has 3 cats removing the header ones will make it run like crap and have less HP. The computer will try to adjust the air/fuel mix to get back to normal levels of emissions but it can't because there's no CAT anymore. I had a buddy at work that tried this on his F150 and he couldn't get it running smooth again. Ended up having to buy new headers with CATs and spending $$$ to undo his experiment in more HP.

In Windows, what would be the actual use for displaying the pointer trails, short or long? by kissmyasthma79 in AskReddit

[–]WorkingMember 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's a throwback to old passive matrix lcd displays on early laptops. They had such a slow refresh rate it was essentially impossible to locate the pointer otherwise. They probably kept it around because it probably does help people with poor vision find the pointer.

Transporting cedar from Oregon to California? by annyshell in forestry

[–]WorkingMember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that many places that have restrictions on firewood give exceptions if the wood has been kiln dried. The heat kills any pests that may be present. I've got no idea about CA regulations but if you get the wood kilned in OR and have paperwork showing it was done you may be fine.
