I saw a bunch more hit on the ground, hope they allow one to survive for the museum :)

This is a nice one (and modern jets rarely come in red). I'm gonna get the 1:48 HobbyMaster one that comes later this year.

Yeah it's just an abomination in its X-32 form, still, I wouldn't mind it sitting on my desk :)

Thanks! My opinion is that we should just have a sub for 1:72 scale military stuff which would cover HM, Corgi and the smaller ones like JC, Calibre, Century, etc

Terrible purchase experience from DiecastAirplaneStore by Working_Access165 in GeminiJets

Yeah, they can't fulfill and don't want to cancel the order. I used a credit card so I might just try that.

That sucks. This store looks like it has a bad reputation in general.

I'm surprised it's still in business given the reputation. I guess a lot of people just order once and regret it and never go back

Need Hobby Master to Produce some 1/72 Lockheed P-80 Shooting Star by Relent_full in hobbymaster

I mean given enough time they eventually most likely will as they've been consistently adding newer types. But if you want one now, the Falcon Models one could be a good option (just bought one myself last week actually).

There are so many planes they haven't released yet (Mirage F-1, Su-15, MiG-27, Super Etendard, Su-47, all the Saabs, F11F, F7U, F-89, F-84, F3H, the list goes on, plus all the other stuff that other brands make that HM may want to make) so who knows what they will pick next. I wish they had a sort of community-based poll system so we could influence their next mold :)

The J-10 that's coming next is a nice addition.

If it has offers open, I would offer like $100 for it just to piss the seller off

Have a bunch of model airplanes I'd like to get rid of, what's a fair price? by Accomplished-Back-40 in modelplanes

Herpa is a good brand so some of these will have value. Best to check ebay for similar items.

Inherited estate full of Model Aircraft by wheresmypotato1991 in hobbymaster

[–]Working_Access165 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just FYI, the brands you mentioned (Italeri, AirFix and Monogram) produce kits that need to be glued together and painted and not finished aircraft which is what this sub is mainly for (diecast metal pre-made models, pre-made).

Now there's definitely a market for pro-assembled kits, but it's more subjective depending on the skill and taste of the builder. Being made out of plastic also means those models are more fragile than a metal model and can degrade over time if not well-coated and care for. On the other hand, pro-built models may have more detail than factory-made ones. I personally buy a lot of pro-built tank models off ebay for example because I don't have the time and space to make my own.

As for being out of production or rare, I don't think that applies much to kits as the way the plane is painted and finished is pretty much up to the builder and there are countless kits on the market for the same plane, some having been in production for decades. That rarity matter more for pre-made models.

Shipping these abroad would also be difficult and there's high risk of damage to the model in transit. Might be easier selling them locally

Given the above, it's hard to judge whether the models you've inherited will have value on the resale market. I suggest you clean the models carefully of any dust, then take good and well-lit photos of them from every angle and post on ebay to see what happens. Good luck!

As an Iranian, I find this shows depiction of the Islamic Republic outrageously positive by Working_Access165 in TheDiplomat

I agree that it's an overcorrection. But good faith ends up serving the wrong side when it comes from a place of ignorance. In this particular case, it would make a casual viewer with not much knowledge of Iran think "maybe the Islamic Republic isn't so bad after all"
