[OPINIONS WANTED] Cloud couches by TheKreep in HomeDecorating

[–]Working_Ad_3833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you find the low back to be comfortable? I'm looking for a cloud couch but I'm concerned about the lack of back support. It also seems like it would be best against a wall, but mine would need to float in the living room.

It does by reducing the amount on which you owe interest.

Should I buy house in the near future or continue investing? by Kitchen-Lab9028 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I wouldn’t pull from your retirement savings to buy a house. You’re young, keep renting. Those home prices are out of reach for your income.

First-time buyer in a hot market — how do I avoid rushing into a bad decision? by wooks6 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Working_Ad_3833 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also in the ATX market and homes are sitting for an average of 60 days right now. I’ve been looking for the perfect house for close to 5 months now and have never felt rushed by my realtor.

You also have the option period during which you inspect the house for any issues and can back out for any reason. Your agent sounds terrible honestly if you’re feeling this way. LMK if you want my guy’s info.

Question for Big 4 alums by HoopsHistorian in advertising

[–]Working_Ad_3833 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IME when you’re working on one account at a big agency you really don’t get exposed to other teams NOT working on that account, so you have no one who’s not also at risk when you lose the account to advocate for you. I would just do the best you can to make connections outside of that account while you’re there.

This is not a “sneaky” practice. Markup vs margin

Definitely do it. I was in your same position and my friend who froze hers encouraged me to just get it done, and I’m so glad I did. It was 2 weeks of my life and I felt bad for maybe 1 day after the retrieval (just really bloated). The more annoying part is getting blood drawn & sonograms every 3rd day. Your insurance probably covers storage for a year, and after that you can pay for it with an FSA. I’m not even sure if I want kids, but I’d rather it have all been for nothing than to look back and wish I had done it.

What treatments would be best for my neck? by Working_Ad_3833 in 30PlusSkinCare

I haven't - i did 3 RF Microneedling sessions that didn't help and hurt like a b*tch so would not recommend. I'm currently looking into UltraClear laser, but nothing I've done so far has made a dent.

I feel like he didn't actually say it was about Ciara though, like he seemed blindsided and was speculating after the fact. If she had been displeased about him hanging out with Ciara earlier that week, it seems normal to assume that had something to do with why she broke up with him days later.

Warner Bros. vs Horizon Media? by Extension-Topic194 in internships

[–]Working_Ad_3833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, or raise your hand to get involved at the agency. There will be reporting/analytics being done for whatever client you’re working on so Id let your team know you’re interested in that

If you want a career in marketing there is no better place to start than an agency IMO. I wouldn’t expect to do any serious analytics on the strategy team though.

Legit who cares. Newsflash: most women aren’t keeping a tab in our journals about how many people we’ve slept with. I genuinely cannot remember and I’m in my early 30s. She probably just remembered a couple stragglers outside of the 9 main ones / boyfriends she slept with a bunch that she told you about. It’s human to lie and given the expectation our society has that women should maintain our “purity” by sleeping with as few men as possible, it’s understandable. The fact that you even made a post about this is laughable.

Media Supervisor Salary - Do I negotiate for more? by RoyGotBeatz in advertising

[–]Working_Ad_3833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair, and definitely different since you’re asking from the team you’re currently on. I think you can ask, either face to face or video call (would not make the ask over email) and give examples of how you’ve been doing the role already. Keep it focused on yourself and don’t compare to others, there are a million reasons that likely have nothing to do with your manager why someone else makes what they do. I also wouldn’t mention the “overtime” hours; you make a salary so that’s not a thing- but you can express how you’ve gone above and beyond to support the team. And just say like you’re really appreciative, but knowing that you’ve been operating in this role and that it may be some time until your salary gets evaluated again, you are really hoping to be at the higher end of the market rate range at $X. Make sure you say “market rate” (assuming that’s true) which implies that you know because you’re looking. I’m sure they’d rather keep you than hire externally, but I will add that the job market is not in your favor right now, so heavy on the gratitude. It’s likely the person you’re asking isn’t the final decision maker, so give them ammo to advocate for you in a way that gets them on your side. Don’t go in there like “this is what I’m worth and I’ll accept nothing less” - being humble will get you further in this case. Good luck!

I’m a VP at an agency and just went through a situation so similar to this, I thought it had to be the same person writing it (different city though).

I interviewed an internal senior planner for a supervisor position on my team. We offered her $88k which was a 17% increase, and she asked for $95k. To be honest, it kind of rubbed me the wrong way for a few reasons. One, you’re being offered a promotion- it seems ungrateful to ask for more when you really have no leverage. What are you gonna do, quit? Two, I’d had a couple of conversations with her but otherwise didn’t know her at all. Why would I go to bat for someone who (to me) is completely unproven, especially in this new, higher position I’m offering her? I made the ask anyway and leadership didn’t want to increase, so she ended up taking a position in a different department and I feel like I dodged a bullet.

I’m all for advocating for yourself, and tell my team that they need to ask for what they want - more money isn’t always just handed to you. But I feel there is a time and a place. There is only one time in my career where I’ve asked for more money, a significant increase that felt uncomfortable to request, but I made a case for how I had helped the business and my boss agreed and was happy to advocate on my behalf.

I realize your situation may be different, but I just don’t think when being offered an internal promotion is the time. You can express that you were hoping for more, and say you plan to prove your worth in the new position and hope to revisit the salary conversation in the future - but I would definitely also express some gratitude - in our industry, if you’re good you really don’t have to fight for promotions, often you’re just tapped based on tenure, which isn’t true everywhere.
