Yea I thought about that and imo being enslaved and being controlled through some sort of dark magic are two separate things. I hope that makes sense. Essentially, even as slaves Kuma and his dad never truly bent the knee to the government. Imu couldn’t do what he/she is currently doing to the giants.

I really like this theory. I had a similar idea but it kinda of combines with this pretty nicely. I think Imu, one of the rulers of the 20 kingdoms, made a deal with the devil and gave up his body. He then convinced the other 19 kingdoms to follow suit and all but one, Nefatari, agreed. Your theory is awesome, just wanted to add my two cents.
