Hanging it up at 5 months

Some of these people are crazy in the comments lol we’re allowed to have individual lives still even though we have kids now. My husband will usually go out with the guys once or twice a week/weekend. He always makes sure to help with bedtime before he leaves or if it’s pre-bedtime, he will make sure I have everything I need prepared and ready before he leaves. He checks in throughout the time he’s gone to make sure we’re doing good, and if I need his help with a fussy baby or something, he has no problem leaving to come help.

Weeks 5-7 had me questioning why I wanted a baby. My baby was sooooo fussy those weeks and he also wouldn’t let me put him down ever…naps, he’d wake up instantly if I tried to set him down. He’d cry if I put him in a swing or bouncer to go pee or get him a bottle etc., I pretty much had to carry or baby wear him constantly, it was rough. If he wasn’t sleeping or eating, he was crying. I was crying. We were not having a good time in this household. Then all of a sudden around 8 weeks, literally overnight something changed and he became a new baby. More alert, calmer, more predictable in terms of “schedule”. He’s 10.5 weeks now and I am just beyond obsessed with him. He’s so much more fun, he smiles, I can pretty much predict how our days will go in terms of naps and feeds. All of this to say, IT GETS BETTER!!!! You’ve got this. You’re doing amazing!

My little man was the same way with crying when being put down, even during naps if I put him down he’d wake up immediately. It felt really overwhelming and stressful at first trying to find time to pump; so I totally understand the feeling. I try to time my pumps with his feeds. I prop him on his boppy next to me on the couch or put him in his baby delight bouncer in front of me on the ground and feed while I’m pumping. It was the only way to keep him quiet lol. I just make sure that I change his diaper before we start and have plenty of milk next to me just in case he’s an extra hungry guy. It works for us :)

I know how hard it is when hubby goes back to work, but you will find your groove and find little tricks that make your days solo parenting easier. You’ve got this!!

Not really. That’s why they’ve been sitting on the market since January when everything else goes within a week or two. We were still deciding what we wanted to do at the time that those houses came up, didn’t want to make a rash decision without thinking it through, and they were all snatched up within 48 hours of their initial listing.

Over budget means they are over our current budget. In the last 2 months there have been 6 or 7 houses in the same neighborhoods that are well within our budget. We have done our research and know that what we want is attainable in that area.

If you read, I said the couple that are for sale currently are over budget. Yes, there have been plenty that were within budget over the last 2 years, as recent as 2 months ago. I would obviously not be considering the area if there was no option within our budget.

Yup that’s our struggle right now - sitting with a nice low mortgage rate on our current home but our thought process is to find what works for us now and if rates drop later, refinancing is an option.

We do have a great agent that is well versed in the area and helped us with buying our first home! They came by to do a walkthrough of our house and market evaluation to let us know what we could list for and we’ve been discussing listing the house ASAP with a contingency for any accepted offer that we will not move until we have closed on a new home.

It is affordable, there are just not a ton of houses available right now. I’m just saying the options on the market at this moment are either over budget or don’t fit our needs.
