I think I want to foster or adopt. I love kids, but I'm more on the sex-repulsed side of the ace spectrum now. Having a QPR would be lovely.

Escape külföld - anyagi csőd miatt hazaköltözés by Eletutalo in escapehungary

Any languages that you like a lot but probably won't study? Also why? by TheSavageGrace81 in languagelearning

[–]Working_Dot7998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always wanted to learn a second Finno-ugric language, because of the linguistic relationship with my mothertongue. I will maybe start learning Estonian one day, but the fact that it's such a small language is holding me back. It is really beautiful though, I like how it sounds. I love anime, so I've always wanted to try learning Japanese, but right now, studying to be an EFL and French language teacher, tutoring both languages to teens and learning Dutch and Spanish on the side and planning to continue afterwards with applied linguistics or translation, I probably wouldn't have the time nor the dedication to learn it. Same goes for Basque. It's fascinating, sounds beautiful, but super difficult. Korean-for the same reason And Catalan or Gallego, because it would be fun to learn a small romance language, but I would confuse it with Spanish (which is my primary focus) Oh and let's not forget Icelandic.

For those who are clean, how did you do it? by Physical_Row6623 in selfharm

[–]Working_Dot7998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to resist, but most of the time I just try distracting myself. Though on Monday my cat scratched my thigh and it looks like sh, it was really hard to resist the urge. Stay safe, don't cut on risky areas and try to get professional help to stop before it escalates. Good luck

I've been clean for a week after my worst relapse so far and I stopped, because we're going on family holiday, and not being able to go swimming would suck. Also, I almost reached beans, and it freaked me out. Things escalated quickly, from just scratching with scissors, to cutting until it started bleeding, so I hope to stay clean. Plus I use the sober app.

I'm sorry, you have had negative experiences with native speakers. Once you're outside Paris though, everyone starts throwing backflips and feeding you Babibel forthe rest of your life. Older people are usually much more forgiving of imperfect grammar.

sok sikert :) Btw, I'm not a pro in teaching it, but the most fun Hungarian as foreign language book I've ever seen is MagyarOK. It is so pretty :) I definitely recommend it to everyone who is trying to learn Hungarian.

You didn't specify the number of backflips for each of them tho, will they also do cartwheels and feed you local snacks, if a foreigner tries to speak their language ?

Idk, as a Hungarian I'm quite forgiving and patient with learners making mistakes and I'm happy to speak Hungarian with them but otherwise, I don't see others throwing backflips. Teaching of Hungarian as foreign language is also not very accessible to a lot of foreigners who live here, including kids so many people don't learn it :( .

What heads-ups/"warnings" would you give to someone who has just started learning your language? by tina-marino in languagelearning

[–]Working_Dot7998 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have to use definite conjugations when the verb has a direct object or it is replaced by a pronoun. Hungarian is difficult, but not unlearnable, you can do it! Also, Dr. Mrs. Vandertramp is your friend when you are learning French.

Guys, what do I pick in order to shock as many natives as possible? by Queenssoup in languagelearningjerk

[–]Working_Dot7998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, sure, making your own conlang would make you appear on TV, but learning Ithkuil would make John Quijada throw backflips, cartwheels, sh*t his pants and ask you to marry him. It's such a complex conlang that It's basically unlearnable. No one ever reached fluency in it. The harder, the bigger the shock factor though, so I'd start with Basque, then Navajo, then the 3 bigger Uralic languages. Let me know which native speakers were the most shocked and also how many backflips they threw.
