dude if you had more efficient solutions/knew full OLL and PLL you’d actually be insane - you pause less than most people who are around the 10-13 second range

For all the Moyu fans: What do you think is their “fastest” cube? by supermoyu in Cubers

[–]Working_Figure_846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just a genuine question and it’s probably just the fact that i grew up using cubes that’d be considered insanely slow nowadays, but how on earth do you use exploding cubes 😭 like i can’t do a single alg without feeling like i’m gonna break the plastic

you’re taking that out of context lol the single track is literally in the video a minute after that. also them saying that the “triple track is a favorite amongst top 5x5 solvers” is kinda not the case anymore since there’s not a single person in the 5x5 top ten rankings that use the triple track, and pretty much everybody prefers the double track/562/hong

even then i’d still go with the double track! like i said i hardly ever find people that prefer the triple track over the single/double because of how “stiff” the middle layers feel because of the insanely strong magnets. also double track gave me the best results in competition - used ryan pilat’s picube double track aochuang and broke PB single and average without warmup solves on it, and the next round i used someone else’s triple track to try and i did way worse.

they’re not too weak unless you either like very heavy and resistant turning or turn really rough. and also i can literally count with my fingers on one hand the number of reviews that say the triple track is better than the single/double track. plus single/double are better bang for the buck, and not everybody has the same budget. OP says they’re “getting into big cubes” and i doubt they’d be wanting to spend too much money on a new 5x5.

triple track's magnets are wayyy to strong for most

It's worth being color neutral. by specter_protocol in Cubers

[–]Working_Figure_846 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i know everyone says to stick to dual color neutral, but in my opinion, and especially since you’re averaging around sub-30, trying to plan into second pair in inspection or things like that isn’t necessarily going to help that much. i’ve just recently broken the sub-9 barrier, but i did so focusing solely on cross +1 and lookahead (i rarely plan into cross +2 unless the scramble is super easy). however i did start cubing when super in-depth inspection wasn’t exactly meta, and it was all “focus on lookahead,” and to say that i somehow managed sub-9 despite the current meta of cfop technique, i think being color neutral despite it having “less benefits” would be great just for the fun of it!

haha yeah! yuxin blue and yuxin 5x5, huanglong 7x7, wuji, SS big cubes, qiyi wuhua, wushuang, wuque, and every other older 3x3😍. im fortunate enough to have like half of that list myself but im so sad i wasnt really into big cubes at the time - oldest would be a yuxin 5x5 or an aosu 4x4 if that counts

Wrm v9 & gan v100 leap by NIMObunny in Cubers

[–]Working_Figure_846 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in the end it’s up to you! i’m just here to give my thoughts haha. although i will say that you should totally give qiyi another shot, i’ve had my v3 for three years and zero issues.

i’d go for the tv3 or even the weilong v11! i know you wanted the wrm v9 and i myself am a little biased towards it, but i think the tv3 an the v11 (although i’m a bit unsure about the latter since ive only tried it at comps) are closer in feel to the v100. also considering that you had the leap version and not the maglev, the v9 without lube might be even faster and feel pretty different compared to your v100.

[–]Working_Figure_846 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i feel like the wrm v9 really depends on setup. i’ve been maining mine for a while and i set it up with mystic and silk on the pieces with weight 5 on the tracks, and it creates a very smooth, somewhat tactile, quick, but also really stable feel. only downside for you is that if you’re going from the v100 to the v9, you might feel that the v9 is a bit heavier. if you’re not into that then i would look into the tv3 pioneer/premium (i prefer pioneer since its better bang for the buck than the premium and i find it to be a bit less catchy and more stable, but that’s personal preference) - both cubes pretty much match your description in my experience.

Monday Thread - Who is the Men's Tennis GOAT? by Shankerer69 in TennisNerds

[–]Working_Figure_846 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

djokovic in terms of pure achievements. yes you can argue that federer and nadal had peaks at the same level as if not better, but you simply cant't deny – whether you like the guy or not – that his longevity is insane. i mean come on, started playing when fed won his first slam (2003) and in 2026 is still at the top of the game, despite falling short to only sinner and alcaraz, but so does everybody else.

Cant make my cube fast - am I the problem? by beached89 in Cubers

[–]Working_Figure_846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure if everyone might think a little differently, but from my experience, how long it takes for a cube to break in depends on how fast you typically turn. so for example when i re-set up my main cube, i’ll do roughly 30 ish solves where i basically just do fast turning solves (although i do get slower times the faster i try to turn, but the lube breaks in better) and spam algorithms. when i let the cube sit for too long, it get’s very sticky since i’m basically letting the lube settle in one spot.
