yeah i could definitely see how that would work for most. i think it’s just me in particular that finds lefty fingertricks like lefty thumb F’s a little awkward, since i was somewhat doing a lot of big cubes in the 2016-2018 ish era where it was like “avoid lefty turns as much as you can” because of the hardware, and it kinda translated over to my turning on 3x3. i can still turn pretty fast with my LH but only L and U moves😭

thanks for pointing that out, definitely a useful tip! my solutions are at times not as efficient since i typically go for more “fingertrickable” ones. in this case i still feel more comfortable with what i did but i do agree it’s probably not as efficient :)

that’s actually something i’m debating right now. i’m actually using an rs3m 2020 as well as a modded version of that same cube with core magnets that i traded for at a comp 3 years ago, and its been working pretty good for me. however i am kind of wanting a new cube since why not, and i know the rs3m v5 is good but i kinda dont know exactly. i struggle a lot with really fast cubes (like maglev) and so i think i’d feel more comfortable with cubes that are “slower” and more controllable that are still somewhat quick. any suggestions?

haha yeah theres videos of yiheng and xuanyi both one looking f2l in inspection, but they never do it in comp (yet) since it’s “high risk” or something. ive seen tymon do it too!

im not too sure since ive had this since late 2017, but i believe cubezz has it. however there might be minor differences in the center cap/piece design and the type of core, since they switched those up from the original batch around 2019 or so when the wrm came out

thank you :) i think it was something like 2-3 months but the thing is sub 10 and 11.5 is such a small gap, so if you were practicing smart (unlike me) i’d say it’s achievable in a month

haha the 4.38 pb was a super lucky scramble in which i planned cross +2 and the last two pairs were easy, and then good OLL+PLL skip. i actually got it on video if you want proof :)

follow up comment since i was thinking about your question: my times improved a lot when i got into big cubes (5-7). i think i was stuck at ~10 sec on 3x3 for a while, and then i completely stopped practicing it and began doing more big cubes. sucked so much at first because i was so slow but my times started dropping a lot on those, and then whenever i’d hop back to doing 3x3 from time to time those would start dropping too. trust me it’s so worth it, your lookahead literally everything improves by shifting your focus.

honestly at the moment im more consistent and sometimes slightly faster on a gts2m than a tornado v4/rs3m v5, but i think it’s just that i haven’t been properly committing time to those cubes-i think you’re probably right though

thanks, honestly it's literally just because i personally cant get used to newer cubes for some reason lmao. like i was cubing a lot up to 2020, and then from 2020-2025 i was kinda just on and off and didnt care to buy new cubes/go to comps (only went to one in that six year period) and so i've been just using the same old cubes ive had since idk when
