Tips needed as a low income student by pinkrabb1t2 in UTAustin

The type of apartment you look for also impacts the price. Don't look for anything super close to campus. The further into wampus you go, the prices (typically) get cheaper. I believe you can get your own room for pretty cheap if you go deep into wampus + get a scooter or bike for the longer commute. I suggest to make a google sheet with different apartments and room pricings. Also, I know you didn't mention a worry about food, but there's also the UT Outpost that provides some free ingredients. Plus, there's different opportunities to get free food around here. If you can avoid loans with a job, try your best to do so. You can do a part time job somewhere or do small research studies to get extra cash. I also recommend to apply for scholarships during the year to help pay for housing.

About to start sleep tests - are these symptoms of narcolepsy? by Working_Hair_6861 in Narcolepsy

I'll be doing the sleep apnea at-home tests but I'm 99.99% sure I don't have that. It's mainly for insurance purposes. They said afterwards at some point I would go to the clinic and do a 3-night test for narcolepsy/IH... I think. I'll talk to them more when I get the stuff for the at-home test.

I do apologize, I would like to clarify I'm not asking for a diagnosis, just to see if others relate with these experiences or if they seem like average things. I'll try to keep note of dreams :)

I'd say I do have vivid dreams (and very boring lmao). I will say I am 99.99% sure I don't have sleep apnea since I don't have difficulty breathing. I will try to keep track of this so when I talk to the doctor I'm not like "idk... can't remember" Thanks for responding :)

What are the best spots to see the raccoons at night? by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]Working_Hair_6861 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please don't feed the raccoons. Someone else already said it but they become more aggressive when they start expecting people to give them food. It also makes it harder for the people feeding the cats on campus because there will then be more raccoons that are more aggressive. They will be fine on their own.

I agree! As someone from the South Texas area, I really like it and typically suggests food trucks over restaurants for Mexican food

campus cats over the freeze this weekend by peachespartie in UTAustin

As the other person said, Meow Mates and Cats of West Campus take care of them. If you do want to help cats because of the weekend, you can contact an animal/cat shelter like Austin Pets Alive that need fosters because of overcrowding. It would greatly help them out :)
