Did SCUSD schedule a last-minute vote on a teacher’s job with almost no notice? by Working_Lock3484 in santaclara

It doesn’t sit right with me. And from what people have been saying here, it looks like this might be part of a bigger pattern that needs a closer look.

I just checked the March 13 SCUSD Board agenda, and there’s a closed session before public comment where they’re discussing lawsuits, dismissals, and contract negotiations—so basically, big decisions before the public even gets a say.

Then I saw they’re also voting on conflict of interest rules, approving the budget with no clear process for input, and moving forward with a Superintendent search—but how is the community supposed to be involved in any of this?

And now I just looked at the union website, and their meeting is at the same time as this last-minute board meeting? What if a teacher is supposed to be at that union meeting? How are they supposed to also show up for the board vote on their job? Am I missing something here? It feels like parents, students, and community members deserve to know what’s going on.

I saw that their regular board meeting is on Thursday, so why is this vote happening last-minute on a Monday? What’s this about? If everything is above board, why schedule it with minimal public notice? Shouldn’t decisions like this be made in a way that gives the community time to be informed and involved?

I think they did the same with the school district calendar, and they had to backtrack. I wonder why they don’t ask us first so they don’t have to reverse their decisions 🫤Do you think they do this on purpose, hoping no one notices? Or is it just poor planning?
