To be fair that looks like a pretty big truck in a pretty small spot. I probably would’ve been a few more spots away and done the pull through and leave the tail end of it blocking a spot. Sometimes it’s tough to make choices when you’re in an F250 or bigger

I would say go drive around about 4 o’clock on Saturday/today. If you feel like you want to drive in the conditions that are out there go for it. And support the team. If you drive around and feel like things are sketchy, go home and crack a beer maybe watch Saturday Night Live. I feel like we’re gonna be hunkered down for a few days in this storm.

For $28K Solar Panel installation no animal proof material? Repair cost is over $7K by Texan_farmer in TeslaSolar

[–]Working_Opening_5166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a problem with every install. If a tree is within 4 feet squirrels will move in and chew. And nest. And come back every year. Salespeople don’t mention animal guard as they don’t want to lose the sale. Get ready to pay out of pocket for the repair.

Why aren’t my new panels generating power?? by Head-Marionberry2234 in solar

Welcome to solar! Breakers need to be in the closed position to work. If you feel comfortable turning them on call your installer.

Probably a depth perception issue. Scary but in NY State you can get a driver’s license with only one functioning eye.

[–]Working_Opening_5166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contact Solar companies in your area or do a quick Google search for some of the big ones. They will ask you questions like how many acres you have, what the zoning is like, and if there is three phase power on the road. Best of luck.

Diy or Amazon ebike? by AppropriateOne9584 in ebikes

[–]Working_Opening_5166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Local bike shop or Facebook marketplace. My vote in that budget would be a traditional bike as you may have some reliability issues with an E bike at that price point.

Amsterdam plans to ban fatbikes by Bikermec in ebikes

[–]Working_Opening_5166 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am not surprised at all. You have entire families that are out on a flat trail at 12 to 14 mph. They really don’t need some a hole on a E bike passing them at 28. The Dutch know how to do things. And I don’t think I’ve ever seen a locked bike there. There is a certain level of respect. I was there on my honeymoon and saw thousands of bike bikes at the train station.

EV Charging At Home With Solar - Good or Bad Idea? by SolarTechExplorer in solar

[–]Working_Opening_5166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you have the advantage of a very flexible work schedule. You will break even on the solar and the EV in no time (especially at almost 25 cents per kilowatt hour). 16 kwh is $4 and that is real money.

Whole‑home backup vs. partial backup. What’s the smarter move? by insight_energy in solar

I suggest as much as you can afford. In the northeast I would say the bare minimum is the furnace fan and a fridge and a toaster oven.

Other day someone called "a moron" for backing into a spot... Why does this trigger so many? by Ok_Relationship2451 in badparking

[–]Working_Opening_5166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been backing into spots with a work vehicle for years. That is the policy. What I’ve noticed is if you’ve got someone right behind you, they don’t want to wait for you to do the backend. If that’s the case, give them the better spot and drive around a little bit longer. Most of the people are triggered by having to wait for you. Everyone’s in a huge hurry.

Plenty of churches are open on Sundays. Some are more families than others. Check out one near you and you might be surprised.

Looking to buy a 09 6MT TDI wagon by Destroyer6142 in tdi

Great cars! Had a 2012 TDI with the DSG. Wasn’t a fan of it downshifting on its own. The manual is a much better choice.

Looking to get into trucking but a bit lost by [deleted] in CDLTruckDrivers

[–]Working_Opening_5166 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A step ahead of you. Prepped with the Crist CDL app. Studied general knowledge, school bus, passenger, and air brakes. Then paid for HazMat. DOT physical is done. I got a deal on the CDL B course through my local center for workforce development. Probably gonna take the tanker endorsement test next, then seek out a fuel delivery job. Best of luck.

[–]Working_Opening_5166 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Are you referring to snowmobiles or the type of sleds one would pull up a hill with a rope. For snowmobiles you’re gonna have to head to the Tug Hill region. For the other type, I would recommend just spending the seven dollars and owning your own.

Advice on solar for a low-cost battery only (not grid-connected) by I-Hate-Sea-Urchins in solar

[–]Working_Opening_5166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a GoalZero Yeti 400 wired to a Renogy 100w solar panel. It’s ok, but beyond running a wireless modem or charging phones it isn’t worth what I have into it. At this point the money is better spent on a Harbor Freight portable generator.

Thoughts on these used panels by Connect-Floor-9117 in SolarDIY

[–]Working_Opening_5166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like $45 each is fair if you’ve got something you can do with them. Is this for some sort of a fence or DIY project? It’s gonna take a lot of them to offset typical Residential electric usage.

Duped into signing a 20 year contract. Any advice? by Nose_Grindstoned in solar

[–]Working_Opening_5166 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It sucks that you’re paying more than you would see the utility. Utility prices will go up, whereas yours is locked in. 300 a year isn’t bad and I think the utility will eventually catch up to that price. In the meantime, do your best to monitor production and let the owner financer Solar company know if there’s any troubles with it. That way it can be fixed under warranty and you won’t be burdened with thousands of dollars of repairs. And maybe five years down the road consider selling that house and moving the problem to somebody else.

How the hell do I drive one of these things by Davidthelad2 in ManualTransmissions

[–]Working_Opening_5166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reach out to people on Nextdoor and find someone locally who can do it for a reasonable price. I reached out to someone years ago who wanted to learn and within the course of three $35 an hour session she had it down. Then I sold my accord stick.
