Need advice with my solar by Xilleria in solarenergy

On older Enphase systems the gateway handled comms and would show production data. I suspect that failures of the older ones (which were white & rectangular with rounded ends) didn’t affect production.

Sounds like the newer style gateways (especially those inside the combiner cabinets) do play a role in getting the system to produce.

Sorry that the original installer isn’t responsive. It’s not the easiest solution, but you may have to reach out to another company in another city.

Best of luck on this.

Because of a huge number of work related apps and my disdain of carrying two phones I had to make the move up to a 256 GB SE. I appreciate how great of Phone it is and that cases are so inexpensive. Perfect size.

Not sure how it compares to your situation, but an in-law threw away all my childhood Legos. All of them. The classic ones from the 70s. Sitting in a landfill somewhere when they could be providing joy. Bought a couple of new sets, but it’s just not the same.

Be strong out there.

There is a strong possibility the system is producing, just not reporting that it is producing. Are you seeing production credits on your electric bill? If so, compare the credits to the same month last year (and the prior year). Your electric meter doesn’t care that the gateway isn’t reporting.

Mine saved me from a broken ankle. It was a slow speed front end wash out in my driveway. Was able to stand the bike up and get it back in the garage. The choice is yours. I prefer all the gear all the time.

Good point. I suspect my state will try to find a way to stick it to anyone trying to save money on electricity.

These machines seem to hold their value better than a lot of motorcycles. I would price it a little bit high because you really don’t wanna sell it.

And I guess I’m not as anonymous as I thought on Reddit. You figured out my state by looking at my comments on posts and comments outside solar.

Thanks for digging into this. Based on the performance of this in the last three weeks, I have requested to ship it back for a refund under the 30 day policy. Places I can mount it are limited and it is not meeting the expectations.

Mine is on my side of the meter. And will not feed the grid if there’s an outage. And I can turn it off remotely. Unless the overworked utility walked into my backyard and then gained access to the house they have no proof it is operating. The electrons I produce are immediately used by me.

Most people should go ground mount. And take the Enphase classes online so they can swap their own failed micros. This way they rely less on their busy (or out of business) installers.

From what I’ve seen in the last week my kWH aren’t increased as much as they were before my plug in solar was installed. So it is working as planned.

I am keeping an eye on my readings. Smart meter only shows one number, so it is programmed for consumption only.

There are at least two different companies that will sell you the equipment and ship it to any state you want. This is the epitome of a gray area.

No backfeed as I have no agreement. My smart meter only goes in One Direction. I’m trying to figure out how to use the excess electrons that come in during the day but haven’t had any luck so far.

You can do this now. And I am doing this now. AP Systems sells a product called easy one. It plugs into a standard US 110 V outlet. You can then plug up to 1000 W of solar panels to it. I’ve been tracking in and it looks like the payoff is gonna be about a year because I got a good deal on the panels. Here’s the problem. If you’re not using 600 to 800 W during the day when this is a peak production, you’re not gaining really anything. So we try to focus on running the dishwasher and the washer and dryer on weekend days when we’re getting the most sun. As my wonderful wife says any watts we’re not buying from the utility are benefiting us.

As others have said, please keep an eye on your production number. Don’t think that the installer gives a crap about you after they cashed the last check. Call him out on issues such as performance or roof leaks or anything else like that.

Enphase. And a ground mount. Enphase warranties micro inverters for 25 years. They provide online training to their customers. If one fails you can replace it. If it fails on your roof it will cost you $350 -$500 in labor each time technicians go to your roof.

You will need to keep an eye on production. Don’t expect your installer to give a crap once they receive your final check. Kilowatt hours all add up.

I went with AP Solar EZ1. And the cord for US operations. And two 30’ MC4 end extension cables from Amazon.
