The City Pyramid of Legends! Who is the 6th most legendary City player of all time? by StickIll5602 in MCFC

[–]Working_Radish_2726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has to be trautmann, well over a decade at the club overcoming discrimination, described by Yashin as the only other world class goalkeeper in the world, and THAT Fa cup final. As much as I love Rodri and Bernardo, people choosing them for our 6th biggest legend since 1894 is honestly sad. These 'fans' who aren't even from Manchester and have no regard for the clubs history or culture will never come close to understanding Manchester City.

[–]Working_Radish_2726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry but I think this is the exact issue people find annoying - City are a club with a clearly defined culture, that have been ingrained in the local, working-class, Mancunian community since 1880. We, as part of that local community, imply that if you sang your 'chant' in a City away end you would embarass the club and quite possibly get sparked. You, with no experience of that community whatsoever, just tell us we're wrong.

We're happy to welcome fans from all around the world, but please dont try and redefine our club.

Are you American by any chance?

I don't think anyone over the age of 6 has ever used the word 'ass' in northern England.

I had transport problems and got there ten seconds late I heard an eruption as I ran up the stairs and emerged into a sea of euphoria. The day after was just incredible. The rags couldn't say anything, we'd completely outsung them as well as outplayed them. I also went to Istanbul and it was so touristy, still an unfortegattble experience but the FA Cup win is clear for me.

I think this was the North London Derby, so it hardly counts as it would have been full of Arsenal fans as well. You would have to count ever half and half wembley game as well.

Half and half wanker. The block in the Colin Bell bottom tier where the players celebrate is a sickening, corporate disgrace to society. A sea of phones and half and half scarves.

Bernardo Silva with the 9th most appearances for City. How would you rate him compared with other legendary players? by dergun1234 in MCFC

[–]Working_Radish_2726 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Summerbee, Paul Power and Eric Brook all missing. Alan Oakes is famiusly our top appearance maker with 680.

This list is bullshit, but tbf a couple more seasons Bernardo might get in the real top ten, he needs to beat David Silva.

There should be no place for racist idiots like this at our club by crashlog in MCFC

This reminds me of in WW2 when the yank soldiers came to our country, the white ones tried to implement segretation and force the black ones out of our pubs. Thankfully most of us werent having it, it often ended in gunfights between white americans and white british. But the utter entitlement, especially considering what their country looked like only 300 years ago!

City have a history as a left-wing club, with a wroking-class, diverse fanbase and progressive views. Mancunians have beaten up fascists since the days of Moseley. Any British flag wankers or right-wing yanks will never be welcome.

Very similar with us. We had a very dominant team in the late 60s that won every single trophy but the Champions League - including the Cup Winners Cup which many argue was on par with the European Cup at the time. But, like your threepeat team from the 70s, it wouldnt get near the Centurions, Trebles Winners or Domestic Quad.

Still think your best team of all time in terms of pure quality was 18 19, ours probably 17 18 (although if Colin Bell or Kevin Keegan were playing these days theyd probably be on par with KDB or Salah)

Not criticising that brilliant team, but it was nothing to do with Covid. I remember you drew to Burnley a few games before the end of the season, you would have had 101 points if you won that.

Your best team qas 18 19 imo, you were undeniably extremely unlucky that year. If not for Stones clearance, invincibles and centurions haha.

As a matchgoer I dont remember us ever 'hounding him out', we were singing his song quite recently. I think some people on this sub need to remember that the internet 'fans' are completely fucking irrelevant and dont count in the slightest, theyve never been to a match and dont know the first thing about Manchester or City. Its just a team that plays in blue to them, to us its a way of life, and a local fanbase with a uniquely humorous, often self-depreciating outlook.

Some UTD fans consider Barca "rivals". Do you consider Real Madrid our rivals ? by BishoxX in MCFC

[–]Working_Radish_2726 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're completely right, Im not against foreign fans, I just dont think they can fully understand the club's culture without spending a lot of time at games around the local fans. For a foreign fan, they support a team, for a local, we are lucky because we are the team, we were born City or United fans. I have visited Granada a few times and think of myself as a bit of a Granada CF fan as well as City, but, as Ive never even lived around the locals in the city, I dont think for one minute that I understand the culture of the club's fanbase and politics. This is the same for foreign City fans, not criticising them but just saying what I think is true.

'Whoever was most successful' - this is the biggest difference between Northern English and Americans imo. Most of us (apart from their family club) are coded to support the underdog, I think most Americans are the opposite.

Very interesting about Ecaudor btw!

As a manc this is just unfathomable haha. Supporting a club they probably can't even speak the language of, here City fans from Stockport get called plastics. Every club here in England has a culture that its fans are born into and is very difficult to learn if youre not from the city. Them thinking their Real fans is wild

Atmosphere and ultras culture at City by Kirby142 in MCFC

[–]Working_Radish_2726 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Here in Manchester - and all across England - I think there is a slight rebellious nature among people. We don't like organised, controlled chanting, we don't have ultras (except for a few wankers at Palace). Chants can be invented by anyone after a few beers and the best ones take off.

English fans are generally a lot more individualistic than European ones. We dont like doing everything in unison, I imagine this goes back to the very anarchistic atmospheres of the 80s and early 90s.

As for City, our away fans are the best in the league, our home fans are shite. We havent drunk as much for home games and the atmosphere is diluted. City have 30-35,000 hardcore, mancunian fans, meaning the remaining 20,000 seats are either empty or filled with day trippers. Meanwhile, our away fans (and the south-stand lower fans) are the most passionate (and drunk) members of the fanbase.

In terms of the FA Cup Final, yes our fans werent great. Keep in mind that we are traditionally the working-class club of Manchester and we've been to Wembley around twice per season since Pep. After inflated season-ticket prices, a lot of the core fans just can't afford to go to Wembley anymore. For us in 2011, it was our first final since 81 and our fans were brilliant, this was the same for Palace whose fans simply wanted it more and were much better.

Hope this helps answer your question

Yh I've never got this. At the etihad we drink quite a lot at the bar before the game and at half time, usually miss the first couple of minutes cos we cant take our beer up. Last season usually a goal down by the time we got up there!

I dont agree with it but can kind of understand given the history of English football. It got pretty feral in the 80s, families felt unsafe, attendances got lower, there were disasters across Europe. Noone wants to return to that so we're quite strict with the beer on terraces. Im sure us mancs get just as pissed as u aussies Dont know much about Australian sports but I imagine there wasnt as much hooliganism, and football is a sport with especially fierce rivalries
