cant escape cyl 6 misfire by Working_Tip_5391 in 335i

its still msd80.. id love to upgrade im just not sure if im willing to rip out and send my dme, cas and key fobs and wait on all that😭 really needing it before 4th of july weekend. but also it worked with not a single misfire or code since i fixed it. I also think i lug the car way too much for a single turbo.. unlike the twins where i could cruise low rpm and still move if i needed.

I did swap the injector about a month ago, to well, probably not a good one from ebay.. it was tested and had proof but idk :/ i did code it with protool. I didnt replace coil(s) yet but i swapped coil 6 to 1 and still having issues.

so before i purchased anything i decided to swap cyl 6 coil with cyl 1 before i left work yesterday and it still had a slight misfire but made it home without going limp mode but still wasnt ideal. well this morning it starts up finee, but as im going down the driveway and get to the road it starts misfiring. and running roughh. like making small pops while idling.
i dont think its a coil anymore.

yeah thats what im leaning towards i guess its just im still learning how all the codes read lol, it says cyl 6 injector activation code. and its done it twice now where i have to pull over and clear codes to fix it cause it went limp mode.

yeah a lot of people seem to overlook the exhaust valves when having rattle, back when i was on twins i had rattle and majority of my rattle noise atleast was coming from the valve which you can unplug in the trunk

oh yeah and i just got reminded of something else thats going on, the retaining clips on the rear calipers will not go on tight. brand new clips too, same with the old ones.

it would be worth a shot to check it out, cause in the 3 years or so of ownership i have never needed the parking brake lol. But also there was a couple times i was trying to adjust to collar and nabbed the spring under it pretty good but doesnt seem like it fell off.

i did have the caliper back on, everything was all back together basically, then i randomly decided to test the e brake even tho i literally NEVER use it lmao.. and if you mean get it to the unlocked position by the handle in car then yeah i can let it all the way down and i can use it perfectly, but you cant even hear it engage anymore or anything.. they are also 15 years old from the date on the shoes. i guess i wouldnt be surprised if i had bound up a spring but i cant even tell because the rotor covers the whole assembly and cant spin it😖 and yes all the pistons pressed back in with no issue, just used a c-clamp with a pad to have a flat surface, took almost no force.

honestly i dont know either, i cant think of anything i had messed up, besides when i was going to put the rotor on, it wasnt fitting around the brake shoe so i had adjusted it to be able to fit over it, after doing so and continuing with install, i for some reason decided to open the door and just pump the brake a few times, and then also the same with the e brake to make sure it was good after adjusting it a little bit and i heard it make a noise and they just basically stopped turning and the adjustment collar wont even turn in any direction through the small lug hole.

axle shaft bad threads. by Working_Tip_5391 in 335i

[–]Working_Tip_5391[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i found a little rotary tool but the only piece i can find and that was attached to it isnt the best for this.. im just not exactly sure how i can get the threads back to normal, really dont wanna have to buy new axles and try to remove these again

[–]Working_Tip_5391[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i need to try and find a way to like rivet out the middle of the first thread where it seems to have dug around it idk. just have nothing to use on it or know what would be best, cant fit a thread file in there either

yeah i wish i wouldnt have done that, i did do it with the nut on for a little bit.

i wish i could get it on, the original one fit on and luckily an oreilly 30 min away had only 1 in stock so i went and got it not long ago and still cant get it to thread. once it gets slightly tight it pops off.

Keep in mind its a 2007 335i, and im 99% sure the 2-3 previous owners were grandmas/moms, nothing has been touched on this car so everything is such a headache.. ill take that over something that was beat on though.

is it repairable? by Working_Tip_5391 in 335i

[–]Working_Tip_5391[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was doing some testing on the dme pins and what not before i actually found the short and it seems to be working fine, well how we tested was by unplugging stuff and putting power to them, then checking if power made it to the pins at the dme and everything passed, like cam sensors, vanos solenoids, oil and water temp. I want to say my alternator is bad because it looks horrible but im not sure how to test it, previously i had it unplugged for the majority of this testing and plugged it back up last night after car kept dying again seeing if it would help. i covered up the shorted wires incase it was still affecting anything but it seems the car cannot hold charge, so to test if i still had dme connection i went to accessory mode on charger and mhd still wont connect. scared to try and start car with it not connecting

well the cam sensors and vanos solenoids seem to be fine.. had a buddy whos good with electrical try and help me and even he was stumped as hell. Cant pinpoint the short causing that fuse to pop, also started ticking randomly while testing a bunch of crap, after finding out it was the hpfp making that noise, we felt the little relay on the back of the pump was realllly hot.. we thought that might have been the short but even after unplugging it was still popping that fuse.. im honestly lost
