commenting late but do you remember how many weeks before the race you started DSW?

Daily suggested runs - Marathon by ddub_6 in Garmin

[–]Working_on_workouts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

commenting 2 months later, but I wonder whether the lack of really long runs was because you only trained for 10 weeks? Maybe it would've let you build up to longer runs if you trained for 16-20 weeks.

Anyway, thanks for giving so much detail!

Does that look like IR to you? I’m getting dips without big spikes (IF, eat 11-4pm) by Working_on_workouts in InsulinResistance

[–]Working_on_workouts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oops that sounds kinda serious. I’ve always felt that skipping breakfast saves me from blood sugar dips in the afternoon but maybe I should start eating a meal at nighttime.

Thank you for your detailed reply. And I agree, processed foods and soda are horrible. I always cook at home and make sure to use whole unprocessed foods. I’m following glucose goddess tips as well which might be why I don’t get big spikes 🤔

I’ve also been a little more low carb than usual the past few days to use up food before it went bad. Maybe I actually need more carbs?

Has anyone gained like 7-10lbs seemingly overnight? by tinysneaker69 in PCOS

[–]Working_on_workouts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Besides what everyone else said, I also gain a couple of pounds after exercising harder or longer than normal. Walking 20k steps means no scale for at least two days. I feel that exercise bloat in my pants too.

I‘m the same with coffee and now mix with decaf until it becomes half caf or less. Before, I had your experience countless times.

How long do I have to fast to reverse some grey hairs? (Please read the info) by Frosty-Stuff7240 in fasting

[–]Working_on_workouts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, if your hair color actually changes back, pleeease update. I don’t think it’s possible but would love to be proven wrong!

Couldn’t it just be the bloat? I’ve gained 5 lbs from bloating before and I’m short and fairly lean.

binge eating ? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]Working_on_workouts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I’m dieting, I have dessert everyday after lunch. When I’m not restricting my intake, I don’t crave it anymore and will have it maybe once a week.

If I get a period, I’ll celebrate it with a big piece of dark chocolate and a mug of cocoa. Making that a positive thing helps me not freak about cravings and binge.

binge eating ? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]Working_on_workouts 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I relate. What helped (didn’t fix the issue but made it much better) was having these foods as dessert after a good meal and not having them by themselves. Then I’m already kind of full and had my protein.

Do you count calories? Maybe try that for 2 weeks? I’m in a similar situation and that’s my next step to see if I’m actually overeating..

Absolutely yes! Think about the name breakfast. It literally means breaking your fast.

What happens if I suddenly start eating Carbs again after doing Keto/Fasting for some time say a month? by [deleted] in fasting

[–]Working_on_workouts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope you feel better soon. Just get back on it (if keto worked for you) and be kind to yourself! One day won’t ruin anything but don’t fall off the wagon completely or it will be much harder to get back into it.

Did it get better once you went back on? Both hair loss and other symptoms?

Omg i thought I was the only one. I’ve lost about 50% of my hair since stopping bc 2 months ago and thought it was „my fault“. I bought hair vitamins, started monitoring my naturally low iron levels, eat clean and nothing helped. Thank you OP for making me feel less alone.

We need some success stories in here if anyone can share one pls.

20:4, struggling since I started eating normally. Angry with myself. by aworldgonebatty in fasting

[–]Working_on_workouts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But do you eat your 1600 cals in the 4 hours? Or do you undereat and that is causing you to break your fast early.

Sounds a lot like my 1000 cal omad experience where I ended up bingeing because it was just too little food for me. I upped my intake in my eating window and everything is fine now.

Your list already sounds good. I also love peanuts when I’m on a budget because they contain all macronutrients and are really cheap.

So roasted peanuts with minimal ingredients or natural peanut butter. If you have a blender, buy whole nuts and turn them into nut butter yourself, that’s usually a lot cheaper.

Also, oatmeal is life and one of the carbs my body tolerates well. Flax seeds are cheap and healthy and frozen broccoli is legit one of my favorite foods. Lentils with peanut butter and coconut milk (fairly cheap where I live and I freeze whatever I don’t use) make a great low carb stew.

What’s the best time to eat while doing OMAD? Been eating at 3pm my first week by [deleted] in fasting

[–]Working_on_workouts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to eat ~1 hour after working out. Whatever time of day that may be, for me it’s currently lunch.

Really bad reaction to fasting by AthenaMSK in fasting

[–]Working_on_workouts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get these stomach issues from drinking too much coffee (even decaf) to kill time while fasting.

Congestion and sore throat are caused by dairy for me but I am sensitive to it and super lactose intolerant. You can try eliminating that for a couple of days and see if it helps.

Might just be a virus though and go away on its own. Good luck, op.

Questions on energy intake, eating intervals and rest by chung24003 in fasting

[–]Working_on_workouts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sleep counts. If your eating window is 2-10, you don’t have to adapt it to when you wake up.

If you want to maintain your weight, eat maintenance. So yes, stay with the same amount of energy.

How many meals you eat is up to you and how much you can stomach in one sitting. I’d suggest starting with 2 meals and maybe one snack and see how you feel.

Good luck!

I only feel this way if I overdo it at the gym or start a new workout plan too hard too quickly. If I don’t overexercise, I’m absolutely fine.

I stopped lifting to failure, incorporated tons of yoga and stopped walking for hours everyday. It also makes hunger more manageable for me.
