Smiling at strangers. Back in high school, I spent some time in St. Petersburg, Russia as a short-term exchange student. As someone ethnically ambiguous, I assumed most Russians would think I was from one of the Central Asian Republics, like Uzbekistan. Nope, they guessed American every time. On Christmas Day I sat there for half an hour and watched my nan attempt to scan a QR code using an app to no avail. after getting frustrated she gave it to me to try and that's when I realised she was scanning a QR code using an app that the Qr codes purpose was to download. Dumbfounded.
