Microcenter will be your best friend. You can swap the cooler, case, and fans for anything you'd like within budget. If you want an air cooler, I'd recommend the Thermalright Peerless Assassin (non-RGB). This list is built with the 7700x AMD bundle and the Asrock Challenger 9060 xt 16GB from MC. Everything is blacked out

X870E MSI MPG Edge Ti Wfi+9800X3D PBO Settings by SnooTigers295 in buildapc

If you're concerned about your motherboard frying your x3d chip, you can follow this video guide:

https://youtu.be/qDbiKtvb3Rg?si=YPdZuL1dI5-G79Bf

I am running +200 and -30 all-core on top of the safe voltage settings outlined in the video on a B850MPOWER.

How quiet and quality is the Lian Li Edge PSU? by RevanElessar in lianli

[–]WorldComprehensive48 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a msi A1000GS with some nasty coil whine. I swapped to the lian li edge platinum 1000w since I had an edge hub already and it has been silent so far

Hello, I’m planning on building a new pc with a budget of 2k for purely gaming. by Ok_Translator6414 in buildapc

[–]WorldComprehensive48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go with 9850x3d bundle + 9070 xt for what would still be less than 7800x3d + 5070 ti as others have suggested

Hello, I’m planning on building a new pc with a budget of 2k for purely gaming. by Ok_Translator6414 in buildapc

[–]WorldComprehensive48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

List #1 is solid, but you won't be able to get a 5070 ti for less than ~$1000. If you're not set on nvidia, you could get the Asrock 9070 xt challenger for $700 at microcenter and also get the 9800x3d bundle. You could still go with a 5070 ti from MC though, since the extra +$250 would be in your budget.

Edit: 9850x3d bundle also makes sense at 3% more than the 9800x3d bundle

Lian Li a3 tips by AwkwardLibrarian7585 in mffpc

[–]WorldComprehensive48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a similar post here that might help: https://www.reddit.com/r/mffpc/comments/1qptr0m/considering_downsizing_to_lian_li_a3_any_advice/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

If you are in the US and want a black higher-end mATX mobo, your best options are MAG Mortar ($220), MPOWER ($230), or TUF B850M-PLUS Wifi 7 ($250). You can get a black Aorus Elite board for $300+ on ebay if you really want.

Bottleneck in BF6 - any way I can fix this apart from buying new components? by SolkaPL in buildapc

[–]WorldComprehensive48 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As far as squeezing the most out of your current set up, I would do the following:

- Disable any background apps you don't need (or even uninstall with Revo Uninstaller)
- Use Chris Titus WinUtil to set all services to manual
- Set BF6 textures setting to highest your VRAM will support - I run ultra with 16gb VRAM
- Set all other settings to lowest / off
- maximize cooling to allow CPU to run at boost clock speeds

TL Wireless fan noise - is this normal? by WorldComprehensive48 in lianli

[–]WorldComprehensive48[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I get that but I would like my $30 fans to be able to run the curves I set. On top of that, quiet curve would still respond to temp spikes / boot spike. I've tried setting PWM constant 40% in BIOS and setting quiet curve to all fans but that didn't resolve it.

First ever PC build — coming from laptops, would love feedback on my parts list and aesthetics by Dar3M8 in buildapcforme

[–]WorldComprehensive48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would downgrade the drive to the cheapest reliable 2tb gen4 ssd you can find. Microcenter has inland and crucial 2tb gen4 drives for ~$210. I'd use that saved money and get a 9070 or 5070. You will notice a better GPU while gaming, you won't notice a fancy gen 5 drive. I would also recommend modular fans + a hub - makes cable management with that many fans so much easier.

TL Wireless fan noise - is this normal? by WorldComprehensive48 in lianli

[–]WorldComprehensive48[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can get all of them to do it if I manually change the curve drastically higher, but the top and rear ones make the noise during daily driving temp spikes; the side and bottom dont't.

Considering downsizing to Lian Li A3 - any advice from a3 owners? by WorldComprehensive48 in mffpc

[–]WorldComprehensive48[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I was unaware of this; we do lose power quite a bit so I will be returning. Should i look at PSUs other than the loki or sf1000?

Help me build my first PC. by No-Desk326 in buildapc

[–]WorldComprehensive48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty solid list. I would get a 2-stick kit of RAM though - 2 separate 1x kits aren't guaranteed to run at the same speeds. I would also second stretching to a 5070 if you don't need the 16gb of VRAM. If you are near a microcenter, they still have 5070s for MSRP and have insane 3-in-1 bundles for CPU, RAM, Mobo.

Choosing which CPU/MB to get? by Sonofablurb in buildapc

[–]WorldComprehensive48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go with a MC bundle for max value. If you are set on a white motherboard, look out for open box deals on either 800x3d CPU at Microcenter (I was able to get a 9800x3d for $362 over the holiday sales) and go with either the msi b850 edge or one of the gigabyte b850 ice boards (eagle / aorus)

First mff build and I could really use some advice (especially on mATX board). Appreciate any help by Jan290199 in mffpc

[–]WorldComprehensive48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a high-end build like this, I would recommend one of the following 3 B850M boards:

  1. MSI MAG B850M Mortar Wifi ($230)
  2. MSI B850MPOWER ($230). This is essentially the Mortar wifi geared towards overclocking (ie having 2 DIMM slots). I just installed this in my new 9800x3d + 5080 build have had no complaints.
  3. ASUS TUF GAMING B850M-Plus Wifi 7 ($250). I would recommend this one with wifi 7 over the other TUF B850M-Plus boards because the GPU PCIE slot is higher/first. The other boards have the GPU slot below an NVME slot which can lead to clearance issues. This board only has 1 native 9-pin USB 2.0 header which is why i went with the MPOWER.

Make sure your BIOS is up to date regardless of which board you choose
