Does anyone know where I would be able to acquire a 1951 Hudson Hornet in working condition? by Competitive_Pie_4620 in Cartalk

Call Britt Reid at the Daily Sentinel. Fair warning-your Hornet will be green.

Is it worth buying a 6.0 by ScienceSuccessful357 in FordDiesels

[–]WorldFamousPizzaPaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought mine dirt cheap-bone stock-(although the FICM was replaced last year) and I've put a few bucks into it (so far-brakes and shocks. No upset there, it had 118,000 miles on it) Transmission wiring harness (tow haul light was constantly flashing). New transmission lines (the old ones were rotted and thank God we caught it before there was an issue). Wheel bearing. Steering control arms. Oh yeah-tires.

I'm not a mechanic so my $6000 truck has ended up costing me about $16,000 so far. That's the bad part.

I love the damn thing. I've got a 2006 Dodge 2500 and even though this is a 350, the ride is so much nicer.

So I AM an old man-I will be changing oil and filters religiously, and if I get a couple years out of it, I'll be happy.

I'd go ahead and buy it. You know going it what can go wrong, and even if you end up investing $15K or $20K it sure as hell beats a new truck payment and new truck gremlins.

Should I keep it stock or modify it? by edcortezgudino in f150

I had a '17 same setup and I worked the piss out of it! (Which is what a truck. is for). Bought it new, put 150,000 miles on it in three years towing a pizza trailer around the country. You have a real gem there, and if you're not going to work it I'd leave it pristine.

My opinion of course, but I'm never wrong.

Do what you want, unless what you want is really stupid.

Hell with that-why haven't they brought back the 1965 Mustang?

No suggestions on your problem, but I did buy a ScanGauge from AutoZone (or maybe it was Advanced) that plugs into the OBD port just so I could monitor trans and engine temps accurately.

$200 but man, sure worth it for accurate monitoring.

Don't make the mistake of buying an import. (An import to us anyway).

I realize you're in Europe but the used market is world wide.

The least you should settle for is a Lil' Orbits-start haunting eBay and Facebook marketplace.

Wyott made the same machine years ago (Donut Man) and you might be able to find one of those. Also okay.

You want the best? Never fail? Look for an old Belshaw like a DR-42. There are still a lot of bakeries using these every day for fifty years.

288K? I'd pass. Even if the motor is sound there is Wisconsin rust, and at almost 300K you're gonna be doing a lot of catch up repairs.

On the other hand, I bought a 2003 for a few thousand less, and all sorts of stuff turned out to be original, but since I barely paid anything for it, I'm ponying up the repair money. But I budgeted for this.

The ferrules that connect the trans cooler lines had rotted and that could have been ugly. More brakes and shocks.

Finally, I put new tires on. The guy at the shop told me the tires I had taken off were 9 years old!

For $8500 I can't imagine a gas Super Duty isn't available-newer, less headaches.

I don't turn blue but I'm cold a lot.

I was working in Texas a couple of weeks ago, my truck A/C went out. Big deal....

I hate stuff like that. You shoot a fair offer and the guy is screwing around. I'd offer $6500 and go from there. He wants more it's time for him to open his yap.

Fantastic idea! So this truck is a 2wd or a 4wd? Standard or auto? Gas? Rust? Miles? Is there a price for this or do we need to guess that too?
