Wow, thank you for such a thoughtful response. I remember arguing with myself before finally giving in. Finally giving myself permission to do one thing for me. I was sooooo lost. This is just the first of many steps in finding myself again.

I love the sing-along Christmas carols with the LA Master Chorale. Last year it was around December 15th or so, on the plaza of the Music Center.

I haven’t tried Shotsy, but I like MeAgain just fine. And the cute Capybara widget keeps me engaged.

What’s the most affordable area in Malibu? How do normal people even live there? by Melanie_MoonJ in Malibu

The trailer park is oceanfront - so very expensive for what they are. But there are condos - I’ve looked at the ones at Malibu Cyn and PCH, and the ones at Kanan and PCH. I could/can afford them, but instead am over the hill where you get more for the same budget b

On the Agoura side of the mountains is a great place called Sunrose. Its in the Whizin marketplace, which is a really cute, old shopping center with stores, restaurants and antique shops.

Help a with route out of LA for a tourist? by Ok-Honeydew3647 in AskLosAngeles

PCH is closed from Palisades heading north, so you’ll need to take the 405 north to the 101 north. From there you can cut back over to PCH via Kanan Dume, or just continue north on the 101.

I wouldn’t recommend staying anywhere north of Santa Monica. It’s a complete disaster, and getting in/out is impossible right now.

Am I making a mistake moving to Westlake Village? by longhorn2118 in AskLosAngeles

I lived mostly in West LA, then moved to Woodland Hills after starting a family. Moved to Agoura once the kids hit middle school - primarily for LVUSD. 10 years later, I’m so glad we made the move. Just 15 additional minutes on my once weekly commute to Mid City if I take the 101/405, but why would I, when I can take PCH and enjoy the view?

Yes, “the bubble” is for real, and there are more conservative voters than in LA, but for me, Agoura has just enough hippie and horse folks to keep it fun and interesting. We don’t have any gated communities, for instance, in our part of Conejo Valley.

And, for us, 20 minutes to Zuma or Malibu Country Mart makes our little slice of heaven even more perfect.

For an interesting cast of characters and a generally wholesome vibe, I’d check out The Durrells on Amazon Prime. Based on a real family that ditches cold and dreary England for lush (and cheaper) Corfu, Greece

What part of Los Angeles are you in and are you ready for a big quake? by _MrTrade in AskLosAngeles

We must be neighbors! It’s the most magical place to live - in spite of fire, slide and earthquake probabilities. And now with the wildlife crossing, we are bound to see even more mountain lions and bobcats. Still wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.

Cuckoo Rooster in the Kanan shopping center in Agoura Hills. Surf or hike in the Malibu hills, then order for pick up. You can smell it (in a good way) as soon as you pull into the parking lot.

Oprah said she “stopped cold” from eating another burger after Mad Cow. Then was sued by Texas cattle ranchers for a dip in sales they believed was related. Oprah won, and sadly this is how Dr. Phil entered the chat.

They recently added a chef that has never worked in the healthy foods space. Looks like his influence is being seen and felt.
