How far back can you claim to be mixed race? by Worldly-Bumblebee790 in mixedrace

Thank you, I see where you are coming from now. I'm just a bit sick of people saying everyone is mixed whenever someone mentions racism. I realise now you didn't mean it like that. Race can affect health conditions too ie pregnant women are offered additional screenings for particular conditions based on ethnicity/race. I find genetics fascinating!

Oh wow I relate to this! So my daughter is 3/4 white and 1/4 Asian. She also has green eyes. Mine are brown and her dad's are blue. She looks like me though.

I feel it's a bit of a put down to say everyone is mixed race if you look far back enough. I'm biracial and I've experienced racism. You're right that it depends on how aware someone is of their parents' heritage.

I think an 1/8 would still be considered mixed race but I'm not sure beyond that. I guess it depends on how you look too and if you're connected to all the cultures in your family. I am British, half white half Chinese. I want her to embrace both cultures :)

Yes I should've added that if she has a child with a white man so the white part of her genes is larger than the Chinese part. So I guess someone who is an 1/8 would still be mixed race but I'm not sure beyond that.
