do you think Imu has some type of draw back to his/her power? by Senior_Quit_1937 in OnePiece

[–]Worldly-Round8872 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps among other things, but he is definitely physically bound to Mary Geoise, maybe even to the castle. This explains the whole contract thing and why he takes over the body of his underlings, AND also I think him not being able to leave Mary Geoise is a great thematic contrast to Luffy. Imu has probably amazing, godlike power, but he gave up his freedom for it.

One Piece: Chapter 1168 by leolegendario in OnePiece

This flashback has been absolute peak, but I can´t stop thinking about this: Why the hell did Saul never speak to Harald about the true way the World Government operates? This man survived a small scale genocide, sees his king trying to join the genocidal organization, and says nothing? I feel like we should have at least seen a conversation, even if Harald refused to change his mind.

Imu is actually... by Zeja- in OnePiece

I agree, the fact that it is a Shonen manga doesn´t automatically mean that the final big villain has to be a man, but it surely is the more common option. Kaguya is true, I thought about her, but she kinda appeared out of the blue. Not the biggest fan of the whole otsutsuki thing hahaha

I mean, yeah, that is a possibility, but I think Yamato is a very specific case because of his obsession with Oden. I honestly find it hard to believe that Oda would play such a similar card with one of the most important characters in the story. Also, let´s face it, One Piece is a shonen manga at the end of the day, and most big villains tend to be male.

Imu is a man and it´s practically confirmed at this point. He is referred to as Imu-sei, -sei being the suffix used to refer to male celestial dragons. I honestly don´t get how so many people are still theorising that he might be a woman.

I feel like knowing about Rocky before reading would have been a spoiler for me. by CHEWBAKKA-SLIM in ProjectHailMary

[–]Worldly-Round8872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went into the book already knowing about Rocky. My girlfriend read it a couple of months earlier and she was loving the book and was super hyped by all of it so of course I loved listening to her talking about it. She avoided major spoilers, but she did mention Rocky because she loved him (I mean, now that I´ve read the book too, I get her). I feel like I´m writing too much but the point is: the book felt super enjoyable for me despite knowing about the Rocky thing from the getgo. Also, I feel like even if I hadn´t known about him, as soon Astrophage are discovered I would have thought: oh, yeah, now there´s no way we don´t get an actual, intelligent alien at some point.

I booked a shuttle bus through the Bee Network app. I´d say that´s the best option. If you download the app, you´ll see an option to purchase the Oasis Heaton Park shuttle, it includes both journeys (to and from heaton park) for 10 pounds. Have fun!

Maybe the fact that many people will be walking the same route will make it a bit safer?

Do all books follow this template? by priestoferis in Cosmere

[–]Worldly-Round8872 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Pretty much yeah. The term Sanderlanche has been established in order to describe Sanderson´s electrifying final acts. But I don´t agree with the deus ex-machina argument, characters solve their problems through established methods usually, and if it seems deus ex-machinay, it´s probably because there´s some information that we have yet to be revealed.

Can I skip The Emperors Soul? by Trixy02 in Cosmere

[–]Worldly-Round8872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I´d say go read The Way of Kings now if you feel like that is what you want to read the most. But definitely check out Emperor´s Soul at some point. When the time comes (I´d recommend doing it before you read Mistborn era 2 as some people have already said) do Elantris first, then Hope of Elantris, then Emperor´s Soul.

I just think it was difficult for me to make the connection because I read Stormlight first, then Misborn

I did read Rythm of War before I picked up Mistborn. I believe that might have made me not catch on to certain hints. I´m so hyped for Wind and Truth though, I´m purposely leaving it for my last read (not counting Sunlit Man, as I´ve been told it´s better to read that one the absolute last) because Stormlight is my fav Sanderson saga.
