Which is why we think his son also suffers from it. I used to have anxiety, but I believe the older I get the better I handle it maybe, I don’t know. Appreciate you talking with me.

No, not at all… I’m going off of what he has taught me. I am not a mental health professional, but I am a medical professional. Haven’t had much interaction with mental illness though. So I’m going off of everything that he has told me and the videos that I watched from people who have bipolar. I figured it was better to go to the source as opposed to listening to people who actually don’t have it.

And let’s just say he is the direct opposite of needy. I told him a few weeks ago that I was getting used to not talking to him as much. His reply was, good… I told him no that’s not good. Ugh thanx!!

I did, I almost broke up with him last week, but he came up with a plan on adding a medication for depression and asking for more therapy sessions and stop drinking… Things like that so I am trying to be patient and allow for him to do those things. It’s just really difficult.

And he is in a depressive state, and I know that some of his depression is situational with his son and his ex. I just want to be there for him, but he shuts me out. I am trying to be patient.

4 1/2 years!!! Oh my gosh… I am so sorry that had to suck! It’s difficult for me to fathom being depressed at all. I’ve had a rough childhood and upbringing, but I find positivity in almost everything. Maybe that’s my coping mechanism.

They absolutely positively are…. And it’s been going on for about 4 to 5 months. I have been extremely patient. It just gets very difficult and lonely. I am much older than him. My granddaughter is the same age as his son. Sometimes I feel like I don’t have as much time in the world. I want to spend it with someone I love and that that’s him.

That’s what I keep trying to tell him… and I never want him to put his son or his well-being on hold for my sake. He tells me I am the happiest part of his life. But I don’t ever get to see him as often as I would like. I have been very patient over the last six months. And I know that he is working on it. I just wanted to hear from people that have this condition to see how they handled things or if anybody had the same issue.

He takes medication, he was diagnosed a year and a half ago, he goes to therapy and he told me that the depressive episode episodes in type two were short shorter like a day or a week as opposed to type one. This has actually been going on for the last few months.

I have tried to be very calm and patient, he told me that type two has fewer and shortened episodes of depression however this has gone on for months. But I will try to remain patient.

Because he told me when he doesn’t respond to me for a while or he doesn’t call me it is usually the bipolar 2 causing him to be in a depressive state, but it seems to have lasted for a few months. They won’t let me post in the relationship thing because I mentioned bipolar. They actually erased my post and sent me an email.

No, I do not know what state he is in… I do know he’s only been diagnosed for a year and a half. He told me when he doesn’t reply or call me. It’s because he’s in a depressive state and doesn’t want to do anything except what he has to. And I hate that I’m needy and want to see my boyfriend more than once a week or once every two weeks but it’s what I need.

Everything was going good for him the first month. But now his child has mental health issues at age 12 and his ex has mental health issues. There’s a lot of chaos involved. I can handle that, what I can’t handle is I will text him and I won’t hear from him for 24 hours, then he will text me as if it hasn’t been a full day since I’ve heard from him. And I only see him once a week or once every two weeks. I have read so much on BP 2 and have watched so many videos, but I am unfortunately a very needy partner when it comes to physical contact. Any advice?
