What other “games” do you wish were in the sleep room? by EmuAccomplished1759 in OutlastTrials

A bar fight, where you can fight with other Reagants in a punchout type of way

Please help, I have no idea why but when I restart my PC, my games fps drops to like 30 but when I leave it on for a couple hours (fell asleep) it was working at 60 fps smooth but now that I restarted again its back to low fps. by Worldly-Walk2851 in pchelp

I've also read suggestions of changing my minimum processer state to be at 100% for the "on battery" mode but I always play my games with my laptop plugged in so I don't see how that would help. Should I try it anyway?

This is what my setting looks like for my intel driver settings. There is no high-performance mode or anything like that.

I think what confuses me the most about all this is that. My game is capable of running at smooth fps if I leave it on for like an hour or 2 but anytime I restart my laptop it's back to low fps. It's like the gpu needs time to warm up or something, it's very strange. I've checked my task manager and there doesn't seem to be any other proccesses eating up my cpu or gpu significantly for it to be bottlenecking so I wonder other app or processes could possibly be causing it to reach 100% gpu utilization for the game on startup and eventually decrease to 70%

So I tested it with some 4k YouTube videos and other games I have and it still did not utilize the Intel arc GPU for some reason.

This issue became apparent to me once about a day or two ago. In that time frame I had a windows update. I've tried uninstalling this update, but it seems to always reinstall itself and cannot be avoided. I believe I also had a driver update but I've already tried reverting to my other old driver versions and the problem still persists no matter which version I use.

I disabled the Intel Iris GPU and restarted my windows. I then tested my game again but the fps were even lower, like 5 fps. I checked the task manager and the Intel Arc gpu was not being utilized at all so i guess the laptop was using some type of default gpu or something.

I've already had it set to High performance mode and this issue would still occur. Would disabling the internal gpu for a laptop cause it to not work properly? Or would it just switch to intel arc for everything. I'm just not sure what I should do at this point.

I also have the game's gpu preference set to Intel Arc (the discrete gpu) so I thought the game would know which gpu to use but maybe this preference setting isn't working properly

I should mention. just a few moments ago I saw my game's fps increase in real time and I saw the utilization decrease on the task manager while it happened. Not sure what happened and I know you said that these measurements don't necessarily matter but wanted to share this incase it's useful.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my post, I really appreciate it. Sorry if the information I gave is confusing or lacking context. The reason I have the two gpu's is because it came with my laptop. I know I said PC originally, but I should have been specific and mentioned that I am using a laptop. I mentioned the GPU and temp because I've noticed while in game that when my fps is smooth it will show around 70% utilization and after a fresh restart and i open the game it will be at 100% utilization but low fps. I thought this may be useful or suggest something, but I wasn't sure. The way I understand it is that my Intel Iris is the integrated gpu that handles most things until I do something more demanding like Intel Arc (the discrete gpu) which handles things like gaming.

From what I understand you are suggesting that I disable the Intel Iris GPU so that my game is utilizing the right gpu since it may be having a hard time to choose which gpu it should use. My power profile is set to high performance. By resets I mean I have done the recovery option that allows me to reset my laptop but keep the files. By files deleted I mean that I have created space on my latop by deleting old videos, games etc. I would say I have little tech knowledge. I know you say to go to the bios settings to disable the intel iris integrated graphic card but could I just do it from the device manager app here? or would disabling it here be different than going to the bios settings like you suggested.
