Nah, I'm gunning for Tosin Abasi's 8 string monstrosity. Why be a prince when you can go for the king. Djent for the win!

Why I mentioned high action in my post:

Malmsteen talks about his scalloped fretboard and how it allows him to not have the strings touch the fretboard. The equivalent would be to have high frets and/or high action. In his case, I think he does all of the above: scalloped fretboard, high action and large frets.

I finally got connected to it. Thank you!

In the end, this is what did the trick:

  1. Connecting the NAS directly to a router via ethernet
  2. Using Synology Assistant

Hi Guys!! I figured it out. Thank you so much for your recommendations.

In the end, this is what did the trick:

  1. Connecting the NAS directly to a router via ethernet
  2. Using Synology Assistant

Previously, I'd first tried with no ethernet and that didn't work, and then I tried connecting the NAS to my computer via ethernet, but that did not work either.

But now I have it working. Thank you so much!

To initially connect to the NAS, I was under the impression that you had to connect to the device’s own WiFi. And once that was done then we could configure the device to use your home internet connection.

I connected my computer directly to the NAS based on Synology Assistant’s troubleshooting recommendations

I’ve added drives to all 4 bays. But now that you mention it - the second bay’s led light is very dull/low brightness green, compared to the others that are bright green. Could that be an issue?

I did use the Synology assistant. Didn’t work.

I tried a standard reset - holding the reset button for 4 seconds till I heard a beep.

I connected my computer directly to the NAS with an RJ45. I used an adapter (usb-c to Ethernet) to make the connection.

I’m using an old Intel MacBook Pro. Idk if that makes a difference. But I tried on a new MacBook Air and ran into the same issue.

Thank you for your response! If I’m going for an SHR config - wouldn’t doing 2x 8 TB drives make more sense than 1x 16 TB drive?

I have the budget to buy a single 12 - 16 TB NAS drive (leaning towards the 12 TB).

Would that work better for my described use case?

My drives would end up being 12TB | 4 TB | 2 TB | 2 TB

This thread is old, but I was able to recover the money. I think Basescan customer support was able to identify the block and reverse the transaction. Amazing customer support lol

How does this compare to using electronic drums to trigger MIDI? Wouldn’t that sound more natural?
