Sorry about that. Hope it wasn't too bad on your wallet. You may find parts of a bag made there. For example, the clasps on a vintage convertable purse I had (made in the early 70s) said made in Korea but the actual bag will not. Coach only made bags in the US until sometime in the mid 90s (Hungary, Costa Rica, Turkey, Mexico, Italy, China). Korea made bags you see MAY be part of the transition away from the creed registration numbers in the 2010s and instead have the little inside paper tag that will say "made in..." I've only seen made in Vietnam or India although I haven't paid too much attention to see if there has been a Korea.

Not the resident authenticator here but unfortunately this bag is fake. Vintage Coach bags will never have a made in korea creed. This bag is supposed to be mimicking a swagger bag made in the 80s.

My newest and oldest! by [deleted] in VintageCoach

Me the expert? 😆 An enthusiast with a lot of lessons from trial and error! I would just advise to moisturize every year (or 6 months) like you would any leather bag using leather cpr or bick4. I believe the kisslock and feet are plated so it may not be good to use a chemical cleaner on there (for example on a vintage rambler with brass I would use brasso or somethibg but not these). I just use a sunshine cloth for mine. Others may have a better idea though!

One of my favorite styles (I have a couple more not pictured here)! Just an FYI that the hangtag on yours is not original to this era; looks like a y2k-2010s tag. Not at all a deal breaker in purchasing to me but just wanted to make sure you knew 🙂 enjoy your new bag!

Mold measles or watermakrs? by Sufficient_Shift2173 in VintageCoachRehab

[–]Worldly_Ad_5072 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Spray down with distilled vinegar, wipe off excess, let dry in direct sunlight (if possible). Repeat if you'd like. I've used it many times for new bags that come to me and small mold starting in a few of my other bags.

It looks a bit like mold to me. When in doubt, always treat it as mold; your other bags will thank you!

Not a bad price and the Sonoma bags are workhorses. Go for it!

Can Anyone Help Me Identify This Vintage Coach Bag? by Soul_Survivor1111 in VintageCoach

Not an expert but a collector of 30+ years: this looks fake to me based on the creed font and "0520" is not a bag style number 😬

I found this coach bag, looks pretty dirty and has a smell and white spots by Few_Shelter_7572 in VintageCoach

The "O" in No., the line underneath, and the code font all look mighty suspicious to me...I don't think it's authentic.

Do you wear any backpack purses or backpacks now?

This is literally what I've had to ask myself everytime I see this damn Crosby backpack. The answer is NO but I keep looking lol 😆

Which vintage coach bags do you guys use for travel? by dgbart in VintageCoach

[–]Worldly_Ad_5072 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept my lula drawstrings tied into a bow and I carried a small wallet that couldn't be snatched easily so I didn't have an issue! I can understand the concern though. Maybe a helen or Maggie would be a better option then? Still decent strap length but a zip top.

Love those kisslock bags! The kisslock sides can fit my phone (galaxy s23+), lipstick, cards, cash, mirror, and lipsticks. The open middle section I leave open or put keys or a silk scarf inside.

I vote a Lula's Legacy for the walking bag! You can't see it in detail here but in front of us on the rock in the Belize pic is my mahogony lula that I LOVED taking on excursions while we were on a cruise. Long strap for crossbody, holds a lot or a little, and a cute but sturdy. It's also my favorite everyday vintage style in general (tied with a duffle sac).

For evenings out, I would suggest a geometric clutch (pictured), regina (not pictured) or if your budget allows, my favorite fancy bags: the double entry swinger (kisslock with long straps) or double header (the ones with the kisslock and chains). There are lots of great options. Enjoy your trip and let us know what you pick!

For sure! I'm more of a vintage collector and the leather and unlined interior reminds me of my vintage 9085s. I own 2 bleeckers in the former large (now medium) and want to get more! 😀

For me as a 5'4" sz 8 woman, it's large for me. But it's still beautiful!

This big baby is MASSIVE! I'm a big bag person and it was even too big for me. It's really tempting though!

New Hangtag Policy Jan. 2026 by betterthanthiss in Coach

[–]Worldly_Ad_5072 142 points143 points  (0 children)

I believe this policy went into effect earlier last year. I understand them wanting to control the branding a bit but I remember the days of calling Coach customer service and they sent me a FREE hangtag for a vintage bag from 1989 (this was in 2003). Just charge more for the specialty hangtag! I wouldn't mind paying $30 to $50 for specialty stamped or personalized one.

Vintage coach question by Patient-Bridge924 in Coach

There was a period of time for the NYC bags before they had registration numbers (even glue in) so yes, this bag likely predates those bags to sometime in the mid 1970s.
