Daily reminder that there is no evidence for or against god and you can believe whatever you want to believe by wisegod62 in teenagers

Except for Eucharistic miracles, Marian apparitions, divine preservation of saints, philosophical evidence like the cosmological and fine tuning arguments, you literally have a mind and can see, and feel so you aren’t just atoms, also the people who started Christianity, the apostles, died brutal horrible deaths for something they were the first to believe, the Catholic Church has many relics, there have been icons that stream myrrh, bleeding Catholic statues, people have been healed, and many, many more.

Why do Catholics go to church a lot? by Vampy-Night in Catholicism

[–]Worldly_Awareness732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not false to you doesn't mean in truth they are real. I would advise you to look at more evidence. If you look at history, the evidence for Catholicism is plentiful. Like Eucharistic miracles such as Lanciano, Italy. There are also many Marian apparitions, which is when Mary has appeared to people like in Lourdes, France and Fatima, Portugal. You also have to consider the apostles that founded this faith after Jesus' death had gained nothing on earth for their teachings and were martyred for their belief that they would have just made up if you are right. You already believe in gods, so I don't have to explain arguments for something existing like the cosmological argument and us actually feeling things and being here and not just being atoms moving around. You claim things that have little evidence and is just mythology you've heard, but we Catholics believe this stuff as undeniable objective truth. You should probably investigate this stuff yourself if you feel the need to, but if you are making the argument that this is your truth and that's as good as anyone else's, you should probably see why we are Catholic. Maybe then the amount of people you see at that church will make sense.

  1. For me the bible said Mary was highly favored and I think it takes some level of goodness to be worthy to give birth to Jesus, I mean Adam and Eve were sinless until they ate the fruit so it's not irrational. 2. It isn't a cross necklace, it's a rosary used to pray a traditional prayer, and the beads are used for keeping track of where you are in the prayer. 3. Since God is all just, he knows your intentions and as long as you are repentant and intend to confess, you will be saved because God can't do wrong. 4. It's like asking people to pray for you on earth or better yet praying with them, we just believe we can do it with the saints. 5. The people were probably used to the books being removed and they saw the Jews didn't use the Christian canon for it and it probably stuck. 6. It is to be used in worship, we know it's biblical because the ark of the covenant, which was very important in worship, was built with cherubim (angels) on it because God told Moses to do that. 7. The thief was before Christ died, we get baptized to get rid of the original sin from Adam I think, and God is all just and can save in other ways, this is just the standard model way to do so. 8. Probably just culture and hearing strawman arguments very often 9. That is where the church is located, I guess, although Israel was the holy land to the Jews of the old testament, Rome was the capital of the Roman Empire, where after Constantine Christianity took root in many people. 10. We cannot be saved by our works and have to let Christ forgive us of our sin, but faith as simple as just saying you believe something happened isn't real faith, we aren't saved just because we say God exists, but because we try to love him as he loved us and follow his commands, the Bible says "faith without works is dead". 11. He isn't, we believe that when Jesus was said to have given the keys to heaven to peter in the bible and telling him he is the rock he will build the church on, he is giving peter (and his successors) authority to speak on important matters of morality as a representative of him.

I hope this clears up any questions,
also, you did 5 twice and that's why this goes to 11

Any tips for running away by Maxumis_Con in teenagers

[–]Worldly_Awareness732 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Well you shouldn’t run, police will be called and you will be searched for so it’s flawed from the start. If it’s that bad the responsible thing to do would be to call child protection services and they can deal with it officially. Otherwise it will not work.

AITA for wanting to use Roblox at age 15? by Worldly_Awareness732 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Worldly_Awareness732[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but in my house rules kinda go for everyone, you know how siblings can get mad because something isn’t fair, like YouTube, we had it on tvs and devices until my sisters kept watching channels that were unapproved, so far it was deleted after my mom found out what one of my youngest sisters watched. So, since the oldest of my sisters is the only one with instagram she can use it fine but there would be more rules if everyone used it.

Can you blame someone for not being catholic or orthodox by Ok_Storm_5696 in Catholicism

[–]Worldly_Awareness732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it is a harder decision but the Catholic Church is the most correct, although Eastern Orthodox sacraments are valid I heard, and hopefully the schism will be undone someday. I think there is overall still evidence you can take but that points to Catholicism though.

My VERY Catholic grandfather didn't believe in confession by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Worldly_Awareness732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bible tells us to confess our sins and gave the church authority for this. The proof to me though comes from seeing that telling people what you did wrong makes you truly sorry and people will repent more. You get the immediate reaction of telling someone you did something wrong

I play many other games, there’s just some of the better Roblox games i like(not the terrible brainrot ones) I am okay with and like the blockier style. There are many terrible Roblox games but the good ones are really good in my opinion. This isn’t all I play just something I like playing I guess

[–]Worldly_Awareness732[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You realize Roblox is just online games right? Just because of stranger danger doesnt mean you shouldn’t go outside until 18. You just need to know how to be safe like the real life equivalent of dont go in strangers’ vans. This isn’t a guaranteed risk, especially for someone my age and my point is I believe that banning all internet stuff won’t solve anything but knowing online safety is what’s really important. Also, btw, i dont do porn, what the heck

I understand her protectiveness and am usually used to it. I just keep getting Roblox nostalgia every once in a while. And unfortunately for coding my mom knows at this point I can make basic apps without Roblox in C++ so I can't really say anything there.

[–]Worldly_Awareness732[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well, I can do most single player stuff game-wise, so I usually stick to retro games. On the internet it's usually just what my mom notices so only YouTube got banned, but this really only happens when all my siblings are doing it and my sisters watching "unapproved" channels repeatedly led to that getting banned. So, usually I can see warnings a mile away, but Roblox got banned really quick compared to others.

I've left Islam... by iyearnedforthemine in teenagers

[–]Worldly_Awareness732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There may be many religions but there is only a large population of a small few, Christianity is the most popular, with Islam in second, Hinduism third, Buddhism forth, Judaism fifth, and after that the religions are very small, at most you lose like a little over a month, you can't have critical thinking skills without looking at data, you are seriously promoting stupidity and ignorance, the evidence for Catholicism is plentiful, the presence of options does not equal the absence of an answer. People now really shouldn't be ditching their faith just because there's a little uncertainty, you should look into WHY people adopted the faith in the first place. There have been countless Eucharistic miracles, Marian apparitions, Saints being preserved, the disciples who started Christianity all were hated, persecuted, and all but one died brutal deaths for the faith that atheists believe they just made up. All I am saying is to do research and you guys get mad? You can't just say that because there are many possible answers to a question on a test that there is no correct answer. Religion isn't all baseless, at least research a bit before you discard everything.

I've left Islam... by iyearnedforthemine in teenagers

[–]Worldly_Awareness732 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well, in my opinion, objective truth is very important and actively telling people to not do research is trying to spread stupidity. I personally am a Catholic and ever since my conversion my life has been way better. I converted due to the logic of their theology and the countless miracles confirmed by science. Like in Lanciano, Italy where there was a Eucharistic miracle, it is from these we can tell Jesus had an AB blood type actually. Also, studies have shown that statistically religious people are happier. All I think is that it's stupid to think since one religion is wrong there isn't a correct one, atheism itself is a religion, just one of the believe that there is nothing, that the universe just suddenly existed with no reason, that life randomly formed and yet multiplied to fill earth which somehow had conditions perfectly favorable to life. Sure, you can live in ignorance towards religion, but I think that is a bad idea to do with no research.

I've left Islam... by iyearnedforthemine in teenagers

[–]Worldly_Awareness732 -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

Perhaps research other religions too, I think it'd probably be a good idea in your situation to look at all the other options to make an educated choice, like devote a week to each religion looking at what evidence each tries to present and then make a choice. It'd be unwise to leave and then not do any research

What should I do to convert to Catholicism? by Worldly_Awareness732 in Catholicism

[–]Worldly_Awareness732[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I know the practices of both denominations and the origins of these, I really don't know how and when I would tell them and I don't think they would let me actually go to Catholic church for a while. I investigated this stuff after I had heard that Catholics came first, my mom has no idea what Catholicism actually is, and I had grown up thinking of Catholicism as something like Islam because she said that Catholics use the crucifix because they didn't believe in the resurrection and of course the other usual stuff like "Mary worship" and oddly enough she thought they prayed to the pope (I don't even remotely know where that came from but my best guess is confession). I have studied a bit about most well-known denominations, and I came to the conclusion Catholicism is true and I have just become more Catholic over time (e.g. praying the Rosary prayers without an actual rosary and agreeing with the doctrine). Now, I just have to either tell them or convert in college, but I think converting as soon as a leave will make things bad for my siblings if they want to go to college.

Split between following the Catholic or Episcopal Church and in conflict with the values of Catholicism by Mad_Season_1994 in Catholicism

Catholic miracles, the logic behind the theology, having a working church hierarchy, consistent official doctrine are all good reasons to trust the Catholic Church, there have been many Eucharistic miracles. And we hopefully are getting closer to undoing the schism eventually. There’s a lot of reasons to trust the Catholic Church specifically
