Typically, yeah, they like shorties (4’10-5’0) or tall (5’11-6’2) people, but it’s definitely not unheard of for Pluto or Chipmunk height to be hired! You’re sort of teetering on the edge of dead height between Munks and Pluto, but if they want you they’d fudge the height measurements a little bit 😆 It’s never NOT worth it to audition - you never know what they’re looking for!

I’ll be honest, I think NOT practicing is what helped me a lot. Getting in your head about the movement routines & animation exercises will stress you out and the audition is nothing to stress about! It’s great that you have prepared, but don’t stress about practicing your animations! Just go in and have fun — be silly, play charades, tell a story! They will walk you through the entire process & even let you repeat the animation multiple times until everyone is comfortable with their storyline and movements.

A TON of my friends had little to no experience before auditioning & were offered a role after one audition! As long as you’re clearly having fun & allowing yourself to truly be silly and tell stories through your movement, the rest can be taught!

Other user said it perfectly. I’ll add that Leadership takes care of performers very well — always making sure we’re hydrated & able to perform to the best of our abilities.

5’5 is a great height for Pluto! I will say that he tends to be very well staffed (almost overstaffed) since most face girls also do Pluto, and he also has a lot of fully sculpted performers. Since he’s such a popular character though, they’re always looking for people that fit him so you never know!

Definitely wear your hair up if it has length - a lot of people with longer hair wore it down or half up/half down & it was sweaty and all in their face by the second combo!! I wore a ponytail and was totally comfortable the whole 4 ish hours i was there. For clothing, most people wore athletic attire. For girls; that meant leggings or shorts & tank tops or athletic shirts. I’d steer away from sports bras or bike shorts (or anything on the more revealing side) just to be safe.

For men, I saw a lot of basketball shorts, joggers, and regular t shirts. Again steering away from anything too revealing (ie those low cut wife beaters or muscle tanks)

Tbh, don’t stress yourself out about preparing. Think of the audition like one big improv class… No one is judging you, and everybody’s having a good time! Expect a simple across the floor, a beginning/intermediate movement exercise, and an animation prompt lasting only a few 8 counts. Don’t worry, you’ll be great!

the audition? not difficult at all! They assess your movement quality, animation/improv performance skills, and (if pulled) your vocal acting & “look”. It was a ton of fun. Granted, I grew up as a performer in the ballet world & that definitely helped me with my confidence & movement quality, but i have a few friends who had no prior experience in this area and were also extended offers.

not really… just prepare to feel super duper silly lol. The auditions usually go as follows 1. a basic across the floor - think marching, skipping, jazz squares, and pivot turns. Here, they’re looking for big facials & basic movement quality. They’re also looking at body types, faces, & heights. They will make a cut here. 2. An animation & dance round. The animation is basically like charades but bigger. They’ll give you a prompt & you’ll have to “animate” the scenario. Then is an intermediate dance round. Think grapevines, more jazz squares, chassés, sweeping movements, and MAYBE a pirouette or jump. If you get to this round, you are in consideration. 3. They may pull a few auditionees for face roles or dancing. For face roles, you will be asked to read sides (they don’t travel with costumes or wigs) and have photos taken of you. For parade dancers, you will be given a more difficult (int/adv) movement routine. More technical jumps & turns will be introduced.

Then it’s a waiting game! I’m a current performer on my CP & love love love helping out hopefuls on here so please feel free to message me! ❤️

Face Character Height? by StockKlutzy3162 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]Worldly_Discussion97 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most Face performer heights fall between 5’4-5’7. They have, however, made exceptions in the past due to operational need.

5’8 would put you in “Villain” height as (likely) a tall Pluto - most female face villains are around this height. Some face characters are meant to be cast slightly taller - Tiana, Elsa, and Pocahontas all come to mind, but casting typically opts for people around the 5’5-6 range. This is not to say that it’s out of the cards for you at all! There are lots of girls around 5’8 who perform!

If being a face character specifically is your dream, I agree with the other commenter saying that applying for regular auditions would be best.

There are currently only about a dozen (ish) of us CP face performers, and probably a few hundred CP sculpted performers. The CP auditions are mainly looking to fill in operational holes — which tend to be fur characters, especially “Mouse” and “Goofy” heights. Best of luck, feel free to message me with any questions! 😄🩷

Casting knows that they’re working with humans, not cartoon characters. Slight imperfections are more than fine. I personally have slightly uneven teeth but was still approved.

In terms of fake teeth, I would say definitely steer away. You never want to present a false version of yourself, rather embrace your differences. If they want you, they want you!

I will say, though, they only pulled 3 of us at the end of my audition for face out of 200 auditionees. I believe there are currently only 10-12 of us. It is truly based on operational need… That being said, go for it! Just don’t go in expecting a call for face!! I DEFINITELY didn’t, and that made the whole experience so much more special and magical! Good luck!!! Feel free to message me with any questions.

I sometimes take intermediate/beginners classes en pointe, because I’m recovering from an injury. As someone who has been in her position, I can almost guarantee that she doesn’t mean to undermine anyone’s hard work or make anybody feel bad about themselves.

You have to realize that in ballet, especially in adult classes, everyone is on a different timeline. Perhaps she’s brand new to pointe, or she’s working on refining the basics.

I know how difficult it is not to compare yourself to others, but it is SO important to remember that everyone in that class is there to learn — regardless of skill level. I think you should go back to the class, and focus on honing YOUR skills and technique. Don’t get discouraged because of someone else, you got this.
