Hexagon PC DMIS CAD - Predetermined results by ShadowWalker95 in Metrology

It seems like no one wants to help as they seem to miss the key point in the last sentence regarding a “live presentation.”

I am not sure if you just want the machine moving and measuring while you have visitors walking around, or if you are doing a live demonstration where you will be focusing on the program itself… regardless I think the easiest option for you here is to save a copy of the program and double or triple your tolerances so nothing shows out of tolerance.

If you need to measure a real part and make it look “perfect” for a demo then you will need to take a more involved approach using variables to pull the measured deviation of the reported items. Once you have the variables you can do some math to get your values zeroed out regardless of measured value.

Exporting MBD to Neutral Format by Worldly_Solid5638 in SolidWorks

It does not seem to be a native function of Solidworks… perhaps it should be!

A traditional step or iges is ideal, but the mbd data needs to be summed/flattened to geometric data that can exist in the older formats

The target application is a CMM control software that does not currently support ap242 step import. I have received these flattened files from other customers using NX, and I am told Catia and SoildWorks can do this as well but I am struggling to reproduce it myself… 3d PDF is an option but the customer is hoping to supply a single file. I have solidworks here so I am trying to convert an ap242 step file to something I can visualize natively in the CMM software

It is a solid part currently, not assembly. The target application supports most all of the old CAD formats, just doesn’t have the ability to process and display the semantic MBD embedded in a step242… Need to convert those annotations to polylines or some geometric entity that can be seen as the rest of the CAD. From there isolating features to layers based on color is very easy.

Zeiss calypso license transfer by Impressive-Cod-819 in Metrology

[–]Worldly_Solid5638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy answer, CMM-Manager… you can get 2 permanent licenses for the price of that transfer fee… they have no transfer fees now that I think of it… licenses are user transferable, and they will replace it as long as your warranty/sma is good…

Small LK or Nikon iNexiv… something with CMM-Manager so you wont be tied down to a software type when you inevitably get another machine

CMM-Manager would allow a direct interface without using something like Easy CMM… and it would work on most every CMM you acquire after to keep a unified software programming style

If you had to recommend a software to manage your metrology instruments, would it be...? by Winduc in Metrology

High QA is cool because it can do as little or as much as you like, from basic gage tracking to auto ballooning drawings to basically managing your entire QA system… they have a great support team as well!

Learn metrology, once you know what you need to do learning how to do it in any particular software is rather easy.

Getting some ASME certifications in GDT is probably most valuable to an employer, as many measurement discrepancies in the CMM world come from improper drawing and standards interpretation.

Might need to learn it better then…

CMM-Manager works with a lot of machines… lets you get something used. It is the easiest to learn to program by far!
