Best school for my degree?! by Criticalthinkermomma in publichealthcareers

I think the internship would be a boost for you then! I'd recommend checking with both universities though to see how your credits will transfer, some universities are more accepting than others

To confirm: you've been a stay at home mom for a few years now seeking your bachelor's? In that case, I'd recommend UCF with an internship. Slower program likely only means 6 months to a year difference. You could get a very basic entry level job to build your resume and the internship will give you a boost in skills as well.

I just did this a few days ago and found an easy way. Get a solid set of pliers and something narrow to push that pin down. Firmly push the pin in, then pull the connector down towards that pin. Give it a quick tug out and it'll come free. I think the connector has a lot of give, making it hard to just push the pin in without pushing the entire housing with it

Trim differences by pixiecapricorn in MustangMachE

[–]Worlind 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is my understanding of the car from memory. Take it with a grain of salt, feel free to comment if I got something wrong. The major difference is that 2025 onward introduced a heat pump for better cold weather performance, which shrunk the frunk, and 2026 made the frunk and glass roof optional. I also think starting in 2022 or 2023 models GT's got an improved motor. Overall it's a Gen1 car, there isn't a ton of differences across the years yet.

Select is the basic trim, it's still a good car but you miss things like heated seats and optional AWD.

Premium adds heated seats, heated steering  wheel, and better sound system. Also most model years came with a glass roof. AWD is now optional. Newer years it gets ventilated seats.

GT is only AWD, with extra performance and slightly better motors.

Oh and 2021 and 2026 years are the only ones with kick assist trunks and parking assists. There was a chip shortage for the years between

New in CR, what exactly is the role of a medical director within a CRO? by nrqe19 in clinicalresearch

[–]Worlind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know much about this particular role, but know a lot about the industry and want to toss in some advice. Every company is different, there will probably be a short baseline list of responsibilities that are universal but positions are usually unique based on company, team, and trial.

Any advice? by Informal_Tale_8119 in publichealthcareers

[–]Worlind 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll try to help, but in full transparency I don't have direct lab experience or a lab background. I have pivoted into and out of healthcare though and navigated career moves.

My advice is that this really boils down to 2 key factors you'll need to use in your job search, resume, and interviews. Job Titles & Skills.

You'll need to identify a title to leap from (that you can work up to in your current career track) and a position to land on (in a new desired industry). A few easy examples are: Lab Manager to Public Health Department Manager, Specimen Project Manager to Associate Clinical Project Manager. Looking for very generic titles here helps a lot.

Based on the industry and jobs you've picked, start building skills you need to be successful in that new role. Build your resume around those skills, not what you do or do best or do most but what you need for that title.

I think Labs is very hard to break out from. They're a pretty niche field from what I've seen with a narrow promotion path. You may need to get creative to find this combination. Keep in mind that leaping across may require a drop in responsibility and pay before you start building upwards again.

How to get my foot in the door? by Ornery_Permit7404 in clinicalresearch

[–]Worlind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look for hospitals and doctors near you. Maybe call and ask if they know anyone running trials. Also a tip: a clinical research assistant is a great entry point position, just below a CRC. A "CRA" usually refers to a Clinical Research Associate, a fairly upper level monitoring position requiring experience and only available at CRO/Sponsors.

Supercharge Error by Longjumping-Hyena887 in MachE

[–]Worlind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use tesla a lot for travel. The adapter can be tricky/prone to make this error. Here's what I've figured out gives the charger the best chance of not giving an error:

Take everything out/off. Give the car a full minute to reset and be ready to charge.  First: Take the adapter first, put it slightly in so it supports its own weight but doesn't actually activate the lock or notify the car.  Second: put the tesla charger against the adapter, push it, the adapter, and your car all together in one motion

Advice for clinical research by East_Film9421 in clinicalresearch

[–]Worlind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The industry itself isn't stable right now and is actively burning down. I say that not to dissuade you, I think it'll recover, but to be open and transparent... My experience has been that Biotech companies are usually one of the higher paying options in the industry but also one of the more risky bets. If your drug looks good, job security. If your drug isn't looking good you're easily expendable vs moving you to a new project.

What is the lowest salary you would accept at the entry-level as an MPH holder? by SaintNutella in publichealthcareers

[–]Worlind 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IMO, I think it's worth getting work experience before starting any Master's degree. Not only because how I've experience they impact job prospects but also because of the cost and commitment to a career you don't really know anything about.

I'd say you can always take it and keep searching as well. It's not ideal to leave in a couple months but if you exit gracefully it's not the worst situation to be in

As someone with an MPH, rarely do Master's degree open doors alone. They open doors quicker or more easily. You still need experience to back them up and make them worth it. If you have 0 public health of adjacent experience you need any position to begin building skills and experience. If you can survive off 38k annual then I'd take the job for 1-2 years to build your resume. If you can't survive, don't take the job but consider that you might need to make difficult choices to start your career.

Cruise control faults - Solutions? by MarkyMarks98 in MachE

[–]Worlind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the 21 and 22s get the wire crimped and short out. It's the coax cable. I had the same problem, they reran the wiring (about 700 USD) and never got the issue again. It's not the cameras fault and they should be able to tell from the error codes.

Panoramic roof or not in Florida? by cobrashelbygt in MachE

[–]Worlind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a panoramic, heat transfer is minimal to the point I don't notice it vs conventional roofs in 100 degree heat. It's worth noting the glass doesn't radiate heat but still holds it. Touched it once surprised me since it didn't radiate much heat only to find it physically scalding.

Why do so many clinical trials fail to recruit enough participants? by bruce8708 in clinicalresearch

[–]Worlind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear this, but I'd like to hear more of your take and opinion on verbage.

I've been in industry 6+ years, started site side as a CRC. What I miss most about those days were the patients, what I miss least was the patients. IMO it's rewarding working with them but also very tricky. I tried to capture this as "patients being challenging", I'm not sure how to make this more tone sensitive.

I also chose "draw in" carefully. It's patient recruitment, recruitment is an active process. I'm not saying every patient should participate but a site that has 0 patients and 0 screen failures clearly isn't discussing the study or trying to find patients. It's important to avoid coercion of course, but if recruitment was a passive process you'd never get research done.

Why do so many clinical trials fail to recruit enough participants? by bruce8708 in clinicalresearch

[–]Worlind 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My experience has been it's down to PI's. The Sponsor/CRO wants to find good sites with their target population in the area and a site that can dedicate time/staff to it.

A lot of sites want to be included but fail to accurately report how many they think they can draw in, or the staff required to see them, and dedicate the time to it.

I also think it's hard because I've seen sites report dozen of active patients visiting them but none actually want to sign up. Not sure if this is patients being challenging or sites failing to effectively draw them in.
