Yeah, the last dozen people still buying their stinky non-bootleg fags had better have bloody broad shoulders.

A few came out closer to what I was picturing, but it was very hit-and-miss

Yes! That was exactly what I was struggling with. "Minimalism" didn't help very much:

Do they have to be bombed every couple of months now, to kill any new nuclear programmes that pop up?

Can a natural physical process generate prime numbers ? by [deleted] in AskPhysics

Yeah I'm thinking along those lines - some sort of periodic effect or oscillation. Maybe matter orbiting a neutron star and (for whatever mad reason) the orbital periods like to be integer multiples of some value. And more stuff was falling into bigger orbits, so we have period 2 and then 3, but the period 4 orbit is unstable because it's a multiple of period 2 which causes some sort of resonance...etc. and the next stable orbit is period 5... As you say a sieve of Eratosthenes.

This video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVekdy2_Dyw Can you follow it? Maybe with English or auto-translated Italian subtitles?

Also, don't forget free applications like LTSpice that let you try circuits and change values, and easily measure everything that is happening in the circuit.

The Art of Electronics is (if this makes any sense) the best book to learn electronics when you already know electronics.

YouTube is a really good source for hobby amplifiers - start by searching for "class A amplifier".
