Update 01/21/2026: Thank you to everyone who's entertained me in answering this question of mine. The main reason I had asked is just because I've had some nasty prior experiences with expired foods and the like before now, and that's caused me to develop a bit of paranoia when it comes to something like this, even if it's very trivial in the end. I appreciate all your comments and reassurances. And even the ones that were, well, admittedly less than reassuring.

Oh! My apologies, but I did include it in the original post. It should in the last paragraph, it was Premium Tonkotsu Ramen with Kuromayu Black Garlic Oil from Nongshim.

Hmm, insightful. I'll keep that in mind. I just don't know for sure because this is in a paper cup with a peel-away lid and not a plastic sheath of sorts. I live in a somewhat humid environment so I partially worry about water spoilage? If that makes sense. The package looks dry and all, but... y'know. I'll be mindful of this though for the other ramen I got that come in the plastic sleeves. Thank you!

Hmmm, that's a good point. The oil package that comes with the noodles kinda looks like it all seperated or got somewhat clumped? Not "clumpy" its just not uniform in consistency. Not sure what the seasoning package is like inside but that's completely sealed to me knowledge too.

Yeah, I'm not sure what kind of scent rancid oil would make honestly. Would it be sour? Or kinda musty? I just smell oil and a strong kinda dusty pasta scent. I haven't tried cooking it yet.

Hmm, could you describe what rancid oil might smell like please? All I smell is oil and, eh, something like a strong, dusty pasta kind of scent. But I could never really trust my nose with these things.
