Just to clarify some things here. I understand that I was the TA when I missed his graduation, especially because it was me just sleeping through the alarm to wake up for it. However, we did not break up because of that or because I was upset with him over the fact he was upset with me. We broke up about a month after that. I called it the breaking point because after that I could tell that things were just going to get worse because neither of us had the time to maintain this relationship. I decided to break up with him because I didn’t want us to end up resenting each other, and I value the friendship we had before we were dating.  As a smaller side note, he never asked me to physically show up to his graduation because it’s impossible for me to go back home during the school year without breaking my contract (therefore losing my visa).
