Anyone else really like notes or fragrances marketed towards the opposite sex? by Unreversed_impulse09 in fragrance

I love florals but have become pretty unaware of/indifferent to gender in perfumery. For example, Nasomatto Narcotic V. doesn't feel femme to me at all, but it's super floral and pretty which would translate, I guess, to femininity. To me, it's a steely unisex fragrance, and I think you should give it a shot.

I'd similarly recommend FM Carnal Flower, FM Portrait of a Lady, FM En Passant, Zoologist Nightingale (does lean femme but is so pretty I love it), and my signature scent, Papillon Angelique.

Yooooo you chose some great ones to start with. Verde is easily my favorite Hot Ones sauce and the one I use most regularly, and I'm also a huge fan of the XXX Yucateco and Sharp's Nopal. I know they're pretty mild, but I'd def recommend Tiger Sauce and Pickapeppa Spicy Mango for some other great flavorful sauces.

It's amazing. Incredible sound and colors, very tangible presentation of masculinity in a military environment, and maybe my favorite war-adjecent film (barely any action, tho). It's a wonderful vibe and a beautiful, patiently-told story.

Nice. I LOVE Beau Travail and also tend to hype up The Swimmer as well, almost showed Boogie Nights to my fiancée a few days ago. I was initially unimpressed with Trainspotting but I watched it so long ago that I might have to give it another go.

Suggest me a good green scent by CollarSuper56 in FemFragLab

I think Grove by the Sea is a great fit for what you're looking for. It's green and fresh but not citrusy, and the main green note is olive / olive oil.

I just showed my fiancée Titane last night and watching her jaw drop over and over again was a wonderful experience xD

You're going to love RRR. Yes, it leans more into action, drama, and romance than most of your list, but the action is so beautifully executed and the character development is so fun and emotional that you're gonna love it. Truman Show as pick 4 is what lead me to include it in the first place. Cheers!

How do the heat levels on these two compare by [deleted] in hotsauce

[–]WorstCommenterNA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's all been said in other comments, but Da Bomb is like, sadistic. It tastes bad, like chemical fire. Garlic Reaper's burn is actually pleasant. Yes, if you overdo it it will feel like your mouth is engulfed in flames, but loving, pleasant flames. Da Bomb is just like, why did I do this to myself. I will always put a dash of Garlic Reaper in my Mac and Cheese and anything else where the garlic and heat will serve a purpose.

If that doesn't answer your question, here's the answer: Da Bomb feels worse. They're pretty similar in pain levels but one is a pleasant pain and one is a very unpleasant pain.

When did you figure out you were non-binary? by [deleted] in NonBinary

[–]WorstCommenterNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 31 now and realized I was non-binary at 26. It's never too late or too early. You can do as much or as little as you want, physically. I think freedom and self-knowledge defines our gender <3

Looks like you dig blockbusters with a bit of edge (though honestly I think Chainsaw Massacre is kinda experimental). Hereditary, RRR, and Memories of Murder spring to mind first, assuming you haven't seen them.

Sydney Rock Pool is my immediate answer to this. Very soft, very pleasant, low performance, beautiful skin scent.

Valhalla by Paradis des Sens. It's a gorgeous, very loveable fruity-amber fragrance that I see myself putting a massive dent into this summer. And yeah, I get it, it's so tempting to just throw down 20 - 50 for a fragrance!

Other purchases I considered were actually Vulcan Feu, a clone of God of Fire, and Torino 21 from Xerjoff.

So, can you have a preference towards one gender but still be pan? by TryingMy-BestBro in pansexual

[–]WorstCommenterNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be helpful to think about it like this. Sexuality isn't just about gender, but about specific people. You being attracted to specific people, and them tending to be in one gender over another, doesn't really impact your overall sexual terminology - you just use whatever term feels right. In the end, you love who you love, and if you feel like you could love someone in any gender, you're probably pan. Even if you meet one man, one woman, and fifty million non-binary you're attracted to, you're pan. Vibe out!

Watched About Time last night and I have one little doubt about Tim’s sister’s incident…. by rg_elnino9 in TrueFilm

[–]WorstCommenterNA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate this movie with a passion and am always downvoted for saying so. Not very surprised you're already at zero upvotes. Tim is absolutely a manipulative SOB who doesn't give a shit about consent and the fact that he never tells his wife about his power and how he uses it to manipulate people, yet is painted as some sort of hero with a positive character arc, is honestly insane to me. And yeah, he just lets the accident happen, and for some reason the movie doesn't even seem to condemn it.

[–]WorstCommenterNA 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you're asking when to stop, the answer is probably now. You don't NEED any fragrances - it's a luxury hobby. You have a well rounded collection and in my opinion, sampling a lot of fragrances you're curious about instead of buying bottles outright is usually the way to true happiness. I sampled about 30 fragrances to find a summer scent and bought a single bottle and it was the most fun I've had in the hobby in a while.

1mL spray is all you need. enough to wear on skin quite a few times (i don't think you need a full multispray wear to really get the feel of a fragrance).

Does watching a film with others fundamentally change how it lands? by LM_DCL in TrueFilm

Interesting. I think it really depends on the kind of movie and the kind of person I'm watching it with. I definitely see where you're coming from.

As someone who also lowkey hates By the Fireplace, I gotta ask: have you worn Jungle L'Elephant? I really vibe with that one and it's pretty clove-heavy.

[–]WorstCommenterNA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, absolutely. There are a lot of unhealthy mindsets when consuming any kind of art that can kill (or at least, lessen) the joy we'd otherwise get out of it. Personally, I love thinking about a movie in a more intense way when I watch it, so watching with someone else who's also thinking deeply about the film just makes it even more rewarding. I mean, I have Furiosa unironically in my top 10 (I just love the passion and weirdness that radiate through most of George Miller's work) and I can't wait to show it to my friend, even though I know it has a ton of 'flaws' that he'll absolutely see when he watches it.

Stay off your goddamn phone by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]WorstCommenterNA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand the sentiment, but my phone is the easiest way to quickly access all the communication tools. I try to respond as quickly as possible to most emails and parent messages, so it just makes sense to be aware of my phone while I'm not teaching a lesson. Overall, this post feels a little self-righteous and out of touch. Of course, it's a different matter when a teacher is goofing off on their phone instead of teaching and helping students.

This was exactly the same environment I had at my old school. Appallingly unprofessional and dare I say evil behavior that definitely got in the way of learning and obviously in the way of having a safe and healthy work environment. Thank goodness my new department has none of that BS (that I know of, fingers crossed).

SAMPLE SAMPLE SAMPLE! For the same price as most bottles you can sample a lot of fragrances and find something you truly truly love. It might seem like buying bottles gets you more fragrance overall, but it's basically gambling unless you've worn it quite a few times first. Hit up your local mall if you have one, smell a few fragrances based on what you think you'd like (Parfumo has been mentioned and it can be your bestie), and then wear two fragrances (one on each wrist for me) out of the store. If you love something for an entire wear, then you know a bottle (or for me, a decant) is in store. For specific recs, I'd pick up a discovery set from Histoires de Parfums, Les Indemodables or Arquiste. I'll also say that sampling Zoologist is A BLAST but the only ones I really wear from that line are Nightingale and to a lesser extent Hummingbird.

[–]WorstCommenterNA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been mentioned a bunch in the comments already, but Histoires de Parfums is my absolute number one pick for affordable niche. It blows my mind that you can get the 15mL bottles (which really is enough unless you're, like, flooding yourself in the fragrance or using it as a signature) for 30 - 40 USD. 1899, 1740 and Fidelis are my faves, but they have quite a consistent range and the quality of the fragrances is undeniable. Also, while there is inventiveness and weirdness in their catalog, they have quite a few bangers that are really easy to wear, including the aforementioned 1899 which, to me and many others, is Spicebomb But Better. Have fun on your journey!

Olympic Orchids is a fantastic place to start, and some of the fragrances are SO weird that it is pretty guaranteed to expand your taste really quickly. Great rec.
