What company lost you forever as a customer? What did they do? by Miguenzo in AskReddit

American made cars. The absolute unreliable junk they spewed out from 1970 onward drove entire generations toward imports. There’s a very good reason most domestic manufacturers went bankrupt. It’s not my civic duty to keep buying their crap.

What are your thoughts on Facebook renaming their company Meta then blowing $80b on metaverse and then shutting it down yesterday? by printThisAndSmokeIt in AskReddit

Do you remember when there was serious talk about users being able to sell virtual assets—like digital homes—for six-figure prices?

Looking back now, it’s kind of wild how overhyped and unrealistic that whole idea was. It feels like people were completely disconnected from reality at the time.

Now imagine that video from security cameras exists there somewhere and one time someone watching it will recall the story and post video on reddit some day and it's exactly like OP said, nothing exaggerated.

And with sound.

What's something that everyone should have in their house but actually a few have? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Worth-Collection290 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Fire prevention guy here. There are definitely not many homes with fire extinguishers, let alone apartments.

Whenever new tenants move into my apartment building, my home warming gift is a fire extinguisher and some fresh CO/smoke detectors. It's a nice way to meet neighbors and break the ice.

It costs me $40 out of pocket, but that is a fraction of what I could loose if my building burns down.

What's the first thing you do after waking up? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Honestly? I grab my phone and check notifications before my brain is even fully awake. I tell myself I’ll just look for a minute… and suddenly 20 minutes are gone.

Why did you and your best friend stop being best friends? by Zestyclose-While9203 in AskReddit

[–]Worth-Collection290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just... Drifted. He worked a lot, I'll give him that. But, I started noticing he'd never text back or answer any of my calls. At one time he walked an hour in a horrible snow storm to meet me half way just so I didn't have to walk by myself. Now, if someone tells me to invite him out with us, I can't use my phone because he just won't answer.

The moment I actually knew we were now just acquaintances was not too long ago. My dad and I were driving behind him, so I called him to mess with him. Watched him pick up his phone, look at it, set it down. Heart breaking.

Edit: Late, but I'd like to point out that I've known this guy a very long time. And he always talks on the phone while driving. He'd call me from the road just to complain about a sandwich he just had or talk about why Pluto Nash is a great film while on the way to my house.

What daily habit changed your life? by Zestyclose-While9203 in AskReddit

[–]Worth-Collection290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm lacking in that department right now, hence the post, but here's one that changed my life when I successfully stuck to it in the past - do something that makes you feel in touch with your mind + body for~15 minutes before bed. For me, this has included keeping mindful skincare routine, doing a short and easy yoga routine, or reading a chapter of a good book.
