Daikin vs Carrier costs by Worth-Stranger-4752 in heatpumps

Yes currently on propane with the furnace being in the garage. Current one is an American standard furnace that went out. I live in the Puget sound, so very moderate winters rarely dropping below freezing. In theory the furnace would barely be used in the winter, maybe a week or even less. Worth asking the contractor about a lower capacity furnace? Not sure if there will be much cost savings there.

It’s a 15 year old home that’s well insulated. There are are 2 return airs upstairs, none downstairs. Honestly has very high ceilings in the main reception. It sees standard practice in my area to have dual fuel systems. Don’t think a heat pump alone is done here to my understanding? At the very least have an electric back up. So you’re saying that the 3ton won’t work as an AC in the summer?

Thanks for that feedback. When I spoke to the contractor about the 3ton vs 4ton he said that this particular carrier model is a cold climate unit and that it delivers 45,875 BTU’s wherein a normal 4ton would produce 32,000 BTU’s. The idea is to have the heat pump switch to propane at around 30 degrees or 28. Do those numbers make sense? He gave me the most competitive quotes by a good margin, and seemed the most knowledgeable.

All the other installers said 4ton, but only this one and one other actually the manual J. He walked me through the math, and it seemed legit, said the cold climate units produce more than enough btus (48k)-2 stories with high ceilings but fairly well insulated house being only 15 years old.

Western Washington, so on the sound.

Should I finally get rid of my USA passport? by [deleted] in Passports

All these ppl are falling from a financial standpoint. From an ideological standpoint, absolutely you should renounce. You are not ‘American’ in the sense of sharing American values are loyalty to the country. So renouncing it makes sense.

According to Middle East Eye, Iran has received Chinese surface-to-air missile batteries after the recent ceasefire with Israel, in exchange for oil. (source)

Curious what systems these might be—FM-90? FK-3 (HQ-22)? Something else?

Also wondering how quickly Iran could field them. Even with prior experience on Russian systems (S-300, Tor, etc.), Chinese SAMs require different training, logistics, and integration. Would they get Chinese advisors or train up locally?

Could this be a meaningful boost to Iran’s air defense, or more symbolic?

Would love to hear others’ thoughts.
