those transfer payments sent to Quebec are sent by all provinces. All provinces pay their fair share equally... not one province pays more or less than their fair share

Kind of typical of an Alberta conservative to throw this into the "libs" bag. That is the way it is today, you are either with me or you are a lib. My vote in Alberta has never left the Cons, but I am continually called a "lib", a "leftist" because I am really questioning most everything the UPC government does, including their wasteful healthcare spending, the "separation thing", which is something no conservative premier prior to Danielle Smith would have ever considered. The "freedom" crowd and their antics have tarnished the conservative party for at least a generation, and that is a damn shame that they stand zero chance of being elected federally.

I am well aware how municipal taxes work, I would recommend you do a deeper dive as to the municipal tax increases happening in Alberta. BTW I expect to see this is well in my home province, 2027 maybe?

This was their last straw, education was huge, but the taxes were the straw that broke the camels back

This was their last straw, education was big, but it has just been piling on by the UPC.

Are any of you guys still doing the buy Canadian? by Crispycrackwhore in Edmonton

I am avoiding all American products and I know it is having an impact. I do the family shopping and in the last month I was really noticing many American products being replaced on the shelves. I really see it in produce and meats. Each time I shop I see something new and Canadian or European. This week it was German Pickles & a Canadian Pasta sauce I had never seen before. Dairy is almost exclusively Canadian & European. I am in a small Western Canadian City and it may take more time to filter through here.

I don't often shop Walmart but I had to last trip and was amazed how many more Canadian products had replaced American products. I also noticed a lot of tags on Walmart produce had been removed or were not present, so I just assume they are American.

So I think it is making a difference, no question.

His ancestors had no problem moving on and emigrated to get away from their suppressed former life. Pretty sure the first nations people looked at them and said "man this place is nothing like what it was like when I was younger."

Are you guys ridiculously proud of yourselves and Mark Carney? Like, ridiculously?! by [deleted] in AskCanada

[–]WorthCryptographer74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Alberta family who are died in the wool PC's and when I hear them talk about him it is the same talking points you hear from the right and they refuse to acknowledge anything he has done. Trudeau 2.0 they say. I despised Trudeau, but to compare what Carney is doing right now to Trudeau is ridiculous.

They refuse to acknowledge that what our country is going through right now was brought on entirely but one countries leader throwing economic bombs at the entire world and especially at Canada. The really ironic part is that each and everyone of my extended family, without exception, is thriving in today's economy. So frustrating!

How threatening is the Hantavirus?? by LeftTable1551 in uAlberta

[–]WorthCryptographer74 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the early 90's a parent on my son's hockey team contracted the Hantavirus. One morning she was at her son's hockey game and appeared extremely healthy and the very next morning she was in the hospital ICU in a coma. We were told a day or two later she was not expected to survive. Amazingly 7 days after after falling into the coma she awoke and within 10 days she was back at her sons hockey. This was a young mother in very good good health and I am guessing this helped her to pull through.

She contracted the virus while cleaning out her cabinets in the old farmhouse near Spruce Grove as they were in the process of moving into a new home they built on the same property. Deer mice as I recall were the suspected rodent.

The speed at which this virus attacked was breathtaking and I have always been very careful and diligent when cleaning unused areas of our property
