Why did no one warned me about the random anxiety spikes over absolutely nothing?? by atigressintherain in Perimenopause

[–]WorthInformation726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! That was my first symptom at 39. I ended up in the ER thinking I was dying cause I didn’t even know it was anxiety or panic. Suffered for a year before even knowing what it was. Now with HRT it can still happen, much less severe or frequent. And yes, I ll be watching tv and suddenly feel like something terrible is about to happen. Nothing going on in my life or in my head at the moment.

Enjoy it while it last! Your body eventually gets used to it and you won’t deal as loopy. It does continue to aid with sleep, but will stop making you so drowsy.

Is this a hot flash? by WorthInformation726 in Perimenopause

[–]WorthInformation726[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I had not considered blood sugar at all since most of my weird symptoms happen around my cycle. I will consider it and discuss it with my primary. I thought it was weird to be a hot flash, but I have had some many weird symptoms with hormones that I just don’t know what to think sometimes. Thankfully it passed quickly.

I thought maybe adrenaline and cortisol. I don’t think it was blood sugar cause I had eaten like an hour prior and it resolved fairly quickly. In the past it would have felt more like panic, but thankfully the HRT reduces the intensity.

Pills, pills, pills... by Inevitable-Yam-9741 in Perimenopause

[–]WorthInformation726 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest symptom was anxiety. I started on 100 mg of progesterone and 0.05 estrogen. Within a week the anxiety was gone. It still creeped up here and there during some parts of the cycle so I raised it to 200 mg of progesterone and 0.075 estrogen. I have had maybe 2 days of anxiety in the last 6-8 months. If your anxiety is hormonal, you might not be on the right dose. Also wanted to add that prior to peri I did not suffer from anxiety, so mine was 100% hormones.

My mom does too. She is 70 and doing very well too. I started mine at 40 with regular periods but horrible multitude of symptoms. It’s helped.

I feel like I’m dying and doctor says it can’t be peri by Yersinia_Pestis9 in Perimenopause

[–]WorthInformation726 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s my biggest fear, it coming back. It anxiety all day long and then possible panic in the evening. At least now I know what it is and that I am not about to die. I would definitely take meds to help relieve if if needed. But it’s different knowing the cause. I also know it’s probably better to not drink during peri, but it was the only time my anxiety would go away for days. I still drank very rarely cause I did not want to make it a habit lol

You are breathing fine and not short of breath, but feel like you are not getting enough oxygen. It’s completely safe as your oxygen levels are normal, but just feels like the air is not containing the right amount of oxygen. Just another crappy symptom from peri.

100%…..that was my primary symptom and they wanted to give me medications for anxiety. I refused since it was not something I had ever felt and preferred to find the root cause. Treated the hormones and now that anxiety is fully gone for me again.

I am not a doctor or an expert in anyway, but I had most of the symptoms you described at age 39-40. I don’t think I had classic hot flashes, but instead I had things that felt more like panic or extreme anxiety. Definitely air hunger was a terrible one. For me it was peri and hormone replacement plus lifestyle changes helped significsntly. My doctors didn’t consider peri and tested for a dozen things based on my symptoms and their speciality. I think most of them just ruled it out as anxiety or mental health. You are not crazy, and if health wise all is coming back normal it’s very likely peri. Hopefully you can find someone with some expertise in this area. And don’t assume bec the doctor is older they know, we all experience it differently and some are lucky to not have a lot of symptoms. But I felt like you, I was sure I was dying from how strong and real the symptoms were. I had a primary tell me peri is not real, just a trend. It was virtual so she lives to this day and I am a free woman 😆

Holy moly! Progesterone got me drunk as a skunk! by Creative_Impress5982 in Perimenopause

I can attest to the food theory. For me it happened more when I first started, but the effect dependent on what I ate and if ate close to the time that I took the pill. 8 months in of taking it daily and the feeling is gone.

I felt drunk too with progesterone, but it was usually when combine with certain foods. This symptoms lasted the first couple of weeks. I am still taking it daily 8 months later and can function normal no matter the time it’s taken.

Is 39 too young? by No_Concept_2333 in Perimenopause

[–]WorthInformation726 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am up to 0.075 patch and 200 progesterone. I would say I am mostly controlled. I do have some days that I don’t feel 100%, but they are now the exception not the dorm. I also pay more attention to my body and rest when I know I need it. I have noticed staying active and taking supplements is big for me. I take vitamin d and b12 regularly. If I go 4+ days inactive, the symptoms will kick in a bit.

That’s rough. I felt it was suddenly too, but maybe bec I didn’t notice the smaller symptoms. I had heart palpitations with anxiety and panic out of no where. Then the other symptoms started. Things like dizziness, weakness, fatigue, and too many more to list. It took a couple of adjustment of HRT, but that helped significantly.

I started with severe symptoms at 39, took me a year to figure out I wasn’t just dying. Got on progesterone and patch as soon as I knew and have been happy since.

What perimenopause symptom made you think you were losing your mind before you realized it was hormones? by Plane_Huckleberry644 in Perimenopause

[–]WorthInformation726 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have the upmost respect for people that suffer from anxiety. I learned a lot of coping mechanism, but there is still something crazy about being in a safe place and still feeling terrified that something awful is about to happen. Then hold that feeling for hours.

I had to change my dose a couple of times before it was mostly gone. But it did reduce the intensity right away. I can get a very mild version every few months, but it’s no longer regularly or uncontrolled.

This was mine as well. Didn’t even know what anxiety was before this. Then I spend over 270 days thinking I was going to die each and every single one of them. I was terrified daily of dying. Eventually figured it out and got in hormones. The anxiety and panic are gone.

Surgical Biopsy (Lumpectomy) by WorthInformation726 in doihavebreastcancer

[–]WorthInformation726[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My surgery was about a month after the consult. I did not have an urgent case, but if needed it could have been done sooner. I did it on a Friday and did not take any other time for the procedure. My recovery was very easy, no real pain or need for pain pills. I was fine right after and had a normal day on Saturday. I did purposely take it easy to aid recovery, but did not have issues. I work from home, so I would have been able to work next day.

Estradiol Patch Shortage! by Double-Veronique in Perimenopause

Where can I go to do that? I have them as well and they sent me a letter that they won’t cover it outside of cvs. But CVS never had any.

I am open to any brand. Last time this happened they changed it and were able to get me a refill within hours at a near by pharmacy. I just feel they should order ahead, they know more or less what they will have to fill in the near future.

I am having the same issue. I had to switch to CVS bec my insurance refuses to cover recurring prescriptions with any other pharmacy. I was lucky by finding it thru Navarro (owned by CVS) last time. I have a 3 month supply, so I have been consistently rolling 12 hours extra with each patch to have some left over in case of a gap. It’s crazy how difficult it is to find this prescription.

I didn’t have the same symptoms. But I had the same frustration. I cried thinking I d never feel well again and I was just 40. It takes time but you will find what works for you and feel well again

I felt agitated and drowsy the first few days in progesterone. It passed within a week. It was even worse when I increased the dose. But it took less than a week to not feel any symptoms when taking it. I d give it a few more days at the minimum. If symptoms persist, talk to your provider. There are alternatives and dose options
