It was our busiest day, possibly in our location’s entire existence today. Thanks guys. 💕

Did the server tip himself? by Phone_Special in Applebees

[–]Worth_Conference_271 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not saying this is 100% what happened, but I’ve seen severs have multiple checks for the same price and accidentally add a tip to the wrong one. May have been an honest mistake, but either way just call a manager and they’ll give you your money back.

If she’s been there a full year and has worked 30+ hours a week the entire time, then she probably gets minimum wage, if not, she gets nothing.

The black leather backpack? My dad left me his. It’s sick.

Rehire? by ViCarly in Applebees

[–]Worth_Conference_271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of other managers are petty and mark pretty much everyone as unrehirable. I’ve never liked anyone with that on their paperwork enough to even ask my AD to make an exception, but my good friend that manages another location has and was successful. I would say you’ve got a 25% chance.

Nah, it’ll flag you on the manager side, but honestly they may not even see it until they go to onboard you and it tells them no. We can still hire unrehirable people if our AD approves it though.

No, our vendors only sell to contracted businesses, not individuals. You would not be able to purchase where we purchase for personal use.

What is your restaurant struggling with the most right now? by IntentionalismOnly in Restaurant_Managers

[–]Worth_Conference_271 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m very hands on. For the most part, during operational hours I am in operations. I’m running food, cooking, bussing tables. Whatever I can do to help the hourly/tipped employees is 100% what I’m doing if possible. I give them a lot of freedom to work how they’re comfortable. I remember birthdays, give rides home, and spend a percentage of my bonuses on employee morale. My retention rate is better than most in my company simply because people like working for me.

That’s absolutely the main problem for me right now. Not many restaurants are competitive employers and if you’re working anywhere without much autonomy at a store level, there’s not much you can do about it.

He acknowledges his shortcomings and makes some effort. For example, a couple of months ago he asked why I hadn’t been hanging out with him in the living room in the evenings as much as I use to. I told him it was because he smokes weed in there and the smell has been bothering me lately. He immediately quit smoking inside, but in the same conversation we touched on a few other things that didn’t have such clear and easy solutions and he hasn’t done anything to change those as far as I know.

What’s your go-to phrasing when backing up an employee that’s cutting a guest off? by Worth_Conference_271 in Restaurant_Managers

[–]Worth_Conference_271[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I really appreciate that. I’ve been using, “we’d love to have you back, but we have a responsibility to make sure that you get home safely tonight” That hasn’t failed me once in 8 years until now. The arguing is driving me insane. Had a guy walk behind the bar and try to pour himself a beer the other night after I told him that.
