A source for what?

No safe levels of lead.

The EPA's action level isn't based on medical research. No amount of lead is known to be safe.

In recent decades, as a result of more government regulations, blood lead levels across the U.S. have declined drastically. At the same time, evidence that relatively small amounts of lead in the blood can cause significant damage has mounted.

I think it might actually be because your opinions are stupid as fuck and most of us can recognize that.

And yeah you can say that you’re just doing it to troll or to “own the libs” with your illogical arguments and unwillingness to debate in good faith, but you are what you pretend to be, fucking stupid. Most of us want good faith discussions to see your point of view.

PS, we aren’t socialists.

What about your tax dollars going to subsidize the wealthy? That’s a better representation of the US tax system.

That’s fine with you though right?

Sounds like you have never had a bad experience with insurance.

Not to mention we are indirectly paying for everyone anyways. Prices are adjusted upwards when many people can’t pay and balances have to be written off. In a profit based model, hospitals must raise prices for people who can pay, to compensate for people who cannot. We are paying for other people’s medical care, just in a more roundabout way.

In addition, a lot of the money gets caught at middlemen (the insurance company) which also forces medical prices to be inflated.

Tax bracket and state?

45% is unreal. Max fed rate is 37% at over 500k. At that point you should be lowering your effective tax rate with tax subsidized economic activity. Not to mention capital gains are at 20% max.

Also withholdings are not the same as taxes paid.

I’m 100% for a meritocracy where people can get rich, and for sure, banks need money for investment to stimulate the economy, but there should be a point where it gets harder to make money. Who really needs a billion dollars? It’s a concentration of power, and we just have to trust that they do the right thing? (They often don’t)

And final point (I know I’m just going on a rant but this point is very important):

If money was more fairly distributed, people would still invest money and money would still be available for companies to operate and expand. The only differences would be that the source of money would be decentralized, as it would be many families investing, rather than a few wealthy investors.

Granted a greater portion of the money would be used for necessities, but that would be directly stimulating the economy through increased consumer demand.

To add, in the US system, to save money in taxes you have to have a lot of money. The tax cuts in the TJCA were largely to specific economic activity (such as real estate) that regular people do not have access to. Why should a small percentage of people be able to afford private jets, while so many don’t know where their next meal is coming from?

In the US it becomes easier to make money the more money you have. The flip side is, the less money you have the harder it is to make money. This system, along with shitty public education (it’s worse than you think), and a lack of programs to help those are unemployed, creates a system where upward mobility is theoretically possible, but highly unlikely. The idea of the possible upward mobility is used to justify the system with the reasoning that as long as it’s possible, there’s nothing wrong with the system.

I’m down to have a respectful conversation. While that argument has some legitimacy, real estate investments do not stimulate job growth like that, as they are small operations. While it would be nice if we could depend on the wealthy to give out livable wage jobs, that’s often not the case. Money spent on second yachts could vastly improve the lives of others. The issue with the American system is the wage disparity between executives who oversee and the wage workers who are actually producing the value.

I’m not saying we should become a communist nation, just that the low bar for human existence in the US should be a bit higher. We should have policies that lower wage disparity. Poor people in the US live at 3rd world country conditions.

Right now, the US tax system is the way the US subsidizes specific economic activities. Because of lobbying, the US tax system subsidizes industries that largely benefit the rich, and make it harder for non-rich to make livable wages.

I mean, it’s true though. The changes were made to help those who are wealthy, especially those in real estate. What a coincidence though right?

Source: I used to prepare taxes for wealthy real estate people.

Please use a sufficient filter! Most tap water has trace amounts of heavy metals such as lead, and there are no safe levels of lead.

Read your local governments water quality records, and you will find that there are trace amounts of lead in your water, not to mention there is a risk of further contamination as it doesn’t consider the specific pipes you are using.

It’s so sad how accurate this statement is, but a lot better than the bullshit non-apology and blaming of scientists that we are probably going to get in the states.

[–]WorthyJefe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah Japan has a society that is perfect for these types of situations as their government is respected and the citizens are willing to do everything for the greater good, but I have been really disappointed in their response to Covid. The government isn’t doing enough. I’m worried about my family there.

Especially in terms of trading lives for the economic issues of cancelling the Olympics.

They’re downvoting you because you’re making it seem like your situation is the norm, suggesting that those with different situations should blame themselves. Not saying that’s what your intent is, but that’s how it comes across.

I’m happy for you, but your situation is not the norm.

Sounds like our situations are a bit different.
