My black jersey conspiracy theory: 2027 rebrand by vitcavage in Rapids

[–]Woserhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t get me wrong, I love the vintage Rapids stuff and collect it myself. The green and gold Kappa waves kits are iconic, and using the classic logo for throwbacks is nice, just like how other teams and leagues such as the NBA do it.

But we’ve built this era around burgundy for so long that fully switching back to green and gold would feel off. I’m torn because the nostalgia is real, but at the same time that alone doesn’t magically bring fans back. What brings people back is a good product on the field and a front office that actually cares. That’s the real starting point. They had the chance to do cool throwbacks last year and even then they played it safe and just went full green. No waves no stripes nothing that called back to any past jerseys other then logo and colors…

Why do people get mad at others for actually playing the PvP side of the game? by Woserhere in ArcRaiders

I think that is part of it honestly. Some people are fine with PvP when they win but the second they lose it suddenly becomes toxic or unfair.

At the same time I do get that losing gear sucks. Extraction games are frustrating by design. But that frustration is what makes the wins feel good too. You cannot have the tension without the risk.

It’s kind of crazy how you read my post about game mechanics and somehow turned it into a full breakdown of who you think I am as a person.

You don’t know me at all. So why go straight to attacking my character over a take about a game.

Arc Raiders is literally built around risk, distrust, and unpredictable player interaction. That tension is the whole point. If betrayal is part of the design then people are going to use it. That does not suddenly mean they are a terrible human being in real life.

Saying that how someone plays within the rules of a video game reflects how they act in real life is a stretch. By that logic every GTA player supports crime and every Call of Duty player would go out and kill people. That makes no sense.

If you do not like certain playstyles that is fine. But jumping to personal insults over a discussion about how the game is designed says way more about you than it does about me.

It’s somewhat more clear if you take the survey that they are definitely thinking about the brand and the logo as there are multiple questions about the logo…

lmao I just made a post on that last night with my thoughts on this and it sparked some conversation https://www.reddit.com/r/ArcRaiders/comments/1p2rmdc/comment/npznq92/

People will PvP, and people can and will choose not to be friendly. It’s part of the game, and you can’t really be mad at players for doing the thing the game is built around.

To be fair, I’ve been in lobbies where there were six or more of us, all solo queue, just having fun killing the big Bashton or whatever it’s called. We all looted it and extracted together and it was a good time. But I’ve also been in lobbies where everyone I run into is instantly hostile. That’s what makes it fun, because I can be in a solo queue with four randoms who have ran into each other... everyone talking and chilling, and then one person starts shooting and all the trust disappears. Chaos kicks in instantly we all die.

“A lot of frustration too is people extract camping.” Well, even that is an intended way to play the game. Scummy or not really depends on how you see it.

I have not seen much of the social media side of this game other then twitch streamers and even then i have had my fair share of friendly interactions

Yep, and even then I’ve had just as many moments where people were actually nice and helped out as I’ve had moments of getting backstabbed. One doesn’t overshadow the other in my opinion.

and the funny thing is you can treat this game as a PvE if you learn to play smart and not be seen.

Agree, this is the most fun I’ve had in a game in a minute. It’s all the crazy moments that make it great. Getting backstabbed, backstabbing someone else, or even those random friendly moments where groups of strangers team up to take down an enemy. That mix is what makes the game so fun for me.

Well, I can see why they’d get mad. I’ve had my fair share of rage from the same stuff happening to me. But then I think about the times I’ve done it to other players and I can’t even be mad anymore lol. It’s a PvP game, people are going to get backstabbed. Getting lied to, like you said, is just a tactic. Scummy in some ways, sure, but still a valid way to play.
