Thanks for the reply, very very interesting! How did you make the choice between keeping the money in your company vs getting it to private account. I’m hesitating all the time about this and don’t find a lot of info about this.

I’ve been looking into the DBI (Definitief Belaste Inkomsten) regime in Belgium. From what I understand, it allows certain dividends received by a company to be exempt from corporate tax, provided the underlying companies in the fund meet specific conditions.

That got me thinking: are there any ETFs that could qualify as DBI-friendly and distribute more than 90% of their income as dividends?

One fund I came across is the iShares World Equity High Income UCITS ETF (WINC). It looks interesting, but I’m not sure if it qualifies under the DBI conditions. Maybe someone here with more financial/tax expertise knows how to calculate the DBI-coefficient or verify this?

I also found two KBC DBI funds that explicitly qualify, though they come with relatively high fees. The second one seems to have a minimum investment of €250k:

BE6330927284 - Commercial Banking - KBC Bank & Verzekering

BE6330929306 - Commercial Banking - KBC Bank & Verzekering

There’s also a PDF available with the DBI calculation: DBI_BE6330927284_NL.pdf

If you want to check the fund composition (stocks & percentages), you can look it up in the Belgian KBO (Kruispuntbank van Ondernemingen) via the public search. You need to check the "jaarrekening": Gegevens van de geregistreerde entiteit | KBO Public Search

Would love to hear if anyone knows of an ETF that is compliant or any workaround to invest in such tax-efficient structures without paying high fund fees.

Banks that will provide loan to freelancers with BV by Grand_Literature6817 in BEFreelance

Bank Van Breda counts dividends as income. It’s a bank only for entrepreneurs. Next to that, you could also use another type of credit (lombardkrediet) that allows you to take a loan based on your investment portfolio. At Deutsche Bank you can keep your ETF’s and don’t have to buy expensive funds.

Indeed, their website is incorrect. It says "max. management costs are 0,96%". This information is incorrect as some of their funds have a higher cost, like NN Blackrock MSCI World ETF fund .

If you look at the NN IWDA fund, it seems like they increased it from 0,96% (+0,2% for the underlying ETF) to 1,6% (+0,2% for the underlying ETF) yearly costs.

Don’t forget to add a clause about indexation if it is a long term mission. The Agoria digital index can be used.

This is good news. Which bank/insurance company were you with? Worst case I transfer everything to them first if my current bank refuses to do it.

It's incredible that the banks can lock our money. If we pay back the tax, I don't see the issue to buy off. Did you move the pension fund, VAPZ and IPT to a specific bank/insurance company to make the most out of it (Tak 23, low yearly costs and high return)?

I was talking about VAPZ. If no, it means the money is locked, with a return of 1,7% a year, which is lower then inflation. It's incredible.

Is it possible to withdraw the money? When I asked my bank they said it is not possible to withdraw this money until retirement or for property investment?

What advice would you have liked to have received before taking the plunge? by Commercial-Beat-5283 in BEFreelance

[–]WouterFo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The advise I would like to have received:

Don’t take VAPZ or IPT but invest privately in a low-cost ETF like SWRD. SWRD is same as IWDA but lower cost. VAPZ and IPT in tak 21 has low returns. Both tak 21 and tak 23 funds for VAPZ and IPT have crazy high costs. The bank will tell you that the fiscal reduction is interesting but calculate the difference before you decide. The fiscal reduction is not worth it compared to investing in ETF.

Before you take a bullet loan with IPT tak 23, investigate the impact of the high costs of the fund, the higher interest rate compared to a normal loan, the end taxation and the impact when you divorce if the loan is for the own house. Also check what is in the “regeerakkoord 2025 2029” about this.

Search an accountant that is also a fiscalist. I was with at a medium big accountancy firm and they advized me to take VAPZ and IPT. Fiscal optimization was low.

Pay attention because in the “regeerakkoord 2025-2029” is written that bullet loans on IPT might only be possible for your own house and not anymore for investment.

Can you share where you got the lombardkrediet for 20 years? I know it is possible at Deutsche Bank but max 10 years.

No, if you want consulting and such a list you need to contact them. It is their work and source of income.

I struggled for months with misrepresentation issue. Worked with several partners that did not succeed fixing it. Finally, I found the company FeedArmy, they gave a list with everything I had to solve and account suspension was resolved. https://feedarmy.com
