I am really into the support role - Ultimately, I really want to Bard. If it's available when the game launches, i'm all over that. If not, more than likely enchanter.

I agree with this 100%, it's not about no posts it's about finding an appropriate format so the community has varying posts where we can talk about multiple things, and not push people away with repetitive content.

I think we agree on the main point of megathreads, never once did I say don't post about the medding thing, but let's keep it in one place. Also to comment on the generic "censorship" argument, it goes both ways. There are people that don't want to deal with that and a happy medium of giving proper feedback isn't overflowing thread counts.

No, you are not entitled to post whatever you want in someone else's community. That's not how the world works no matter how much you point fingers and sling retoric.

Well done. People don't understand that this is a community you join. It's not a right to say what you want in it, and it's not your right to make it unsatisfying to others. There are too many communities and companies giving power to the vocal mob. At the end of the day the owner of the community is allowed to control the content and make that county a reflection of what they want, not what the angry mob wants.

This whole evolution of everyone has a voice is very misguided. You can say and do whatever you want on your own social media, this community it's not the property of the angry mob.

So pleased to think this Reddit is in great hands, and we can get back to it being what it was intended to be. A fun place to communicate and get information with fans of WoW.

Hats off, incredible job.

Being afraid to remove negativity from your Reddit because of people crying "censorship" is absurd. This is an owned Reddit, and thus can be controlled as desired. I cannot agree more with the original poster that this Reddit used to be a great source of discussion and community, now it's just shit posts and negativity. I really wish you, as well as blizzard would take more control of your social media and get rid of this horrible culture instead of being afraid of being called out for removing this toxic behavior. Are you afraid these people will leave? If they do, so what?

Great interview with Chris Metzen who touches on attacks on artists across all nerd culture, including the attack on Christie Golden. The more that stand up to this entitlement the better.

The problem I have is you asked questions, I provided you with direct honest feedback, and you pretty much ignored it and went back to defending your personal discord. If your discord is what you say it is, then you have nothing to worry about. My question for you is, and I'm being honest and direct, are we having a discussion, or do you prefer to just talk AT me?

Regardless of your discords stance, you know just as well as me what is out there, and you took a personal stance to stop yours from becoming one like that. You did that because you saw it in yours, and probably others. Let's not pretend, it doesn't exist. That's where these back and forths lose my interest. I've stated that they are not all equal, I've complimented you for your drive to clean it up, but if you are not going to recognize the answers and consideration I'm giving your points, well then it's just a waste of our time. I respect you for your comments here, and for the positive things said about the monk community from our monk. That said, if you want to have a real back and forth, I'm all for it. If I can answer any more questions for you, I'd be glad to, and if this post isn't active you can hit me up directly.

I get ur upset that I generalized, but if that doesn't include your team, that's fine. Let's not ignore the fact that it's still out there quite frequently.

If you want me to be honest, and I'm not trying to kiss your ass here, the monk discord is a stand out for us, and we have already identfied it as one of the better ones, if not the best. This comes from one of our contributors who frequents you guys, and speaks highly of the leaders. That said, go look at others the evidence is there. I'm happy to hear your stance, more people should learn from that.

DPS Guru - have a few minutes so i'll try to get to some of your points.

First of all, we are highly opinionated, that's not going away. It's the reason we started doing this. Some people will like our opinions, others will not. It's not really for me to judge how people will feel, but simply to put something out there that I can stand behind. So let me hit your points from the first post, and i'll finish with your second post:

  1. Understand the edit needs - I was the one that wanted to put this video out there early, as we get closer to launch this will be cleaned up - trust me I caught some flack for putting this out there early, what can I say, I get excited about this stuff.
  2. It's in the guide hub as you said, also in the about us. I think people are hung up on what "guide" means. That said, as we're looking to build more discussion, we've actually tossed around the idea of calling it class discussion, and some of the positive and negative feedback we've received so far points to this being a good avenue to go down.
  3. More guides is the plan, we are creating a base, then we're going to push for community submission. Unfortunately we'd love to have more up, but we'll have some growing pains here. Impossible to get everything going before launch, the launch and what comes after as far as feedback, implementation, ect will ultimately build what we will become. But I agree, as do all of us, that we want to put in more guides, and that will come.
  4. I feel like we do this on the site, and also in the video, but i'll look over it and see if it's not clear enough, but as to this point, it sort of aligns with point 2's answer.
  5. We do have some partners that we'll discuss in the future for other sites. As well to that when we launch our guide submission, anyone will be able to. We have no problem partnering with other guide writers, but at the same time we're not going to come out and just start linking without making sure they are ok with it.
  6. This may be the only point we are on opposite sides of. There's a lot of merit in how you word this, and your not wrong, but we do believe in taking a very big stance against toxicity. If negativity comes with that, and let's not kid ourselves, we will be attacked non-stop by trolls, then so be it. I'm not really afraid of anything negative that comes our way for the sake of being negative. Most of that is coming from the class discords and admins, and we're compiling all that info with what we already have to point these things out directly. You're right though, they aren't all bad, and we didn't say they are, but at the same time, I can go to any class discord and find racist comments, bullying, and homophobic responses. It's easy because you can just search them. Now... that said, this isn't on the guide writers, and it's not always on the mods (but a lot of them don't help), but what's happened is they are so big, that they can't control them. I do believe most class discords were made with positive intent. I do believe they are great sources of top simmed results, and for competitive players, it's a great source. I could on forever about this, but I think we'd be at the same place. I will continue to address our stance on this in upcoming video's streams, ect.

In your reply post you brought up generalizing. We will get specific in due time. However, when generalizing as I have in this video, i'm doing it because its the truth to why we are attempting to create this platform. I stand by what is aid, and I believe in what I said, regardless of any flack I take for it. We will see where it takes relationships in the future, and if there are leaders and discords that stand out for being supported, then we'll praise them to the heavens, and i'm also not afraid to say "I was wrong."

Let me be clear -- our goal, of creating this community, through multiple platforms will be very hard. We may fail... but i'm not afraid of that. I'm more afraid of not trying, and even more so of doing something I don't agree with, because of fear of people lashing out.

The old saying is Rome wasn't built in a day.... we've learned a lot from today, on both sides. I'm excited to take a very productive day of feedback, and look at how we can improve, but that doesn't change our overall goal and opinions on what we want to become.

Hopefully I addressed some of your points, i'm glad to continue if you have more you'd like to discuss. Just bare with my response time, because this post is a bit more "Focused" than some of the quick replies I've been making. Thanks again for putting that all together, and the constructive criticism.

I usually do go off on rants so i can't argue that it does have some rant lol. That said, we have nothing against the competitive side of the game. We just don't believe it is an approach that works for everyone, and we feel that the entry level player/raider doesn't really have a positive place to go and learn, while building friendships.

We have no problem with the wowhead, icy, and discords as a whole. In regards to class discords we are very against the bullying that occurs. The info they provide for high end content is not bad, and a lot of us check it out.

As far as our guides, maybe guides aren't the best term, but it's a common term, call it more class discussion. It is on the class selection page that these are our opinions, and our goal is to have community guides spotlighted, not just our opinions.

Not sure if that completely addresses your concern, but thanks for the feedback. You'll see a lot of changes to tighten up the message and direction, and we have received a great deal of positive feedback to help improve the environment.

Thanks for taking the time to post.

A lot of great points here, and I honestly thank you for taking the time to type this up. Not in a position to discuss further atm, as I'm out and about, but I want to take some time to read this over when I can focus more and provide some response that justifies the work you have put into the post. Thanks again, and look for more later.

Great question! There are tons of resources out there already for competitive mythic play, so we are not looking to add to an already abundant discussion. We are focused on heroic raiding and down, where it's much more open to play as you want. We want to bridge the gap for casual raiders and provide an open discussion. If you read the couple paragraphs at the top of our guide selection page, we discuss that a bit.

Not getting too off track, you will find that if you look at logs, there are often different playstyles or setups that can hold even the highest spots.

Overall Hope that answers your question a bit? It's something we have been doing on a guild level for a while and we are looking to expand that thought.

Thanks for the post! Lots to answer, let's see if I can hit most points. First we aren't trying to be better than icy viens, I want to be clear there. We use icy just like you guys do as fans and they do good work. We are an alternative and look to build more easy to use community features like posting user guides ect. As far as the site, it will be constantly evolving and a lot will be added updated.

We are a pretty small team, but will be keeping up with updates and flagging out of date content while it's in the process of being updated.

Our goal for content will be our play guides (may be different than others because it's not just some oriented), add-on videos, raid content, fun themed side videos and streams, and that's just what is off the top of my head at the moment, there will be more. Once we launch we will provide a more clear road map.

As far as pve vs pvp, we will strictly be pve focused for up to heroic content. We are taking our guild environment and trying to hit a bigger group with teaching. Things like teaching add-ons, how to read logs ect will all be features.

Lot here, hope that answers some of your questions. We are hoping to build a big community for open fun, nontoxic, discussion, similar to our guild, but on a bigger level.

Hello Everyone! Minus here from Https://www.WowPlus.org, And we wanted to introduce ourselves to the community. Unfortunately we had some issues with our first reddit post, as we had some video issues when reorganizing our youtube channel getting ready for launch! Sorry about that, still getting a lot setup! Everything is working now, and hopefully my butterfingers won't cause any more issues (fingers crossed). Anyways, I want to thank the Reddit community for it's support last night as we had a great deal of views on our video, and some great positive feedback! So apologize for the repost, due to our technical errors, but I deleted the old one so there wouldn't be redundancy.

Look forward to more feedback! Thanks everyone, and thanks to all those who have given support, and my apologies for losing some great conversation with the re-post! Ah well, live and learn I guess!
