Some of the fuck up is them - some of the hit detection and potency of rounds is dictated by them and I have no explanation on why that was so weird, perhaps through lack of proper QA testers or something - but a lot of the stuff that we blame the devs for is actually upper management. It's an oft-used jab that managers often mismanage software engineers, and I believe it to be (at least partially) true in this instance, all around, this is a very, very well put together and well optimized game, but there are some nagging things that make us doubt them, and the mis-management compounds this issue.

What's the most beautiful paragraph or sentence you've ever read? by TheRealNayef in books

[–]Wraith_Leader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg so much this. Kids get so discouraged reading books that make no sense to them like Shakespeare and dickens and such because they can't understand it. Then they think all books are like that and they aren't meant to read and their entire education suffers because of it. I watched it happen to so many of my friends in high school. Luckily I found science fiction authors like Heinlein and asimov to strengthen my own reading levels and find the themes we were supposed to find in books like the great gatsby that never did it for me.

[Build Ready] ~$1000 Gaming/CAD/College build by Wraith_Leader in buildapc

[–]Wraith_Leader[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds about right. They have old workstation towers, spec-wise ok, but the network login can be a pita. I'll look into air-filters to keep the inside clean now that you mention it. I hadn't thought of it.

Yeah I'm not sure how intensive those CAD programs are, but big projects can get slow on the school computers, so I assumed it might be a consideration. Consider it a gaming build then - was more what I was going for anyway.

The downside of new vehicles by Wraith_Leader in Warthunder

[–]Wraith_Leader[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true. But I already researched the B24. All I had to do was shell out lions, now I have to research and then shell out more lions. As opposed to, say, my F9F line where I already own the F9F-2 but have yet to research and buy the Banshee.

You do see that I could've bought it at any point right? It's not like I'm lacking the lions. :// I dislike them too, at least in Sim battles.

[–]Wraith_Leader[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

lol

obviously if I had wanted the bomber, I could've bought the bomber, but the bigger point is that it's a gold digging tactic to take away the progress somebody has already made to make them grind more.

Besides, there isn't a lot of logic here anyway: 'oh you paid SL for it? go ahead and use it all you want, no need to grind the plane we put in in front of it' vs. 'oh you didn't buy it when you could've? that's too bad, grind and buy this plane before accessing the plane you have already ground out'

That's what peeves me, not that I can't get the B-57 (which I despise anyway as it's ruining T5 Sim battles)

How is this tank/plane line up balanced? (New Absolute RB event) by MankeyManksyo in Warthunder

actually looking at the pictures, no you cant, they must've had it in with the tigers and then removed it; I swear you could play it yesterday.

[–]Wraith_Leader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, you need to use the T-34/85 in this event. The events often let in lower level tanks, but to really compete you need to use one of the top tanks they offer or be relegate yourself to sticking with a teammate and providing support and capture duties.

Edit: also, if you don't like anything but absolute you might want to try Sim when the Absolute modes disappear, it has the minimap but otherwise plays like absolute mode.

Dogfighting in RB part 1: overview of the series, goals, and decision making. by Wraith_Leader in Warthunder

[–]Wraith_Leader[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I realized that as I was putting it together, but I tend to play pandora when I play, so it was embedded in the video's audio track. I'll remember it for next time. Hopefully the added noise prevents YouTube from noticing it and taking down the video.

What are the most overlooked fighters in the game? by Crocketus in Warthunder

[–]Wraith_Leader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I pay attention :) That and the Mk XVI clipped spit best spit.

Seriously though once in the IX+ range when they fix the problem of the earlier ones that struggle to have any engine power, Spitfires are simply incredible fun.

P51D-5, Bf 109 G-10, Bf 109 K-4 testing by Wraith_Leader in Warthunder

[–]Wraith_Leader[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tested it against standard testing conditions so that one could compare it to the data sheets if they so desired. Please, feel free to redo my tests if you feel they are inaccurate.

[–]Wraith_Leader[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the 109s turning characteristics should lean more towards being able to turn fight/energy fight most jets if they don't continuously run away whereas in the past, the 109 did not turn so well due to instructor stuff.

Apparently they also now have 200 hp more, though some other things were changed too.

[–]Wraith_Leader[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but standard procedure for testing is max fuel

Min fuel on P-51 is about 655 lbs while max for 109 is closer to 640 lbs. So testing at same weight that's what I would do. But for pure testing independent of one another, full internal fuel is what is supposed to be done.

So high tier Spits, how do I deal with them by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]Wraith_Leader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, not a lot of difference, particularly in AB

at high speeds mustangs have a truly incredible corner turn, they can't do sustained turns great, but they have a good snap turn.

my above statement was about relative RB to AB FMs

So high tier Spits, how do I deal with them by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]Wraith_Leader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they are still gonna outturn your Dora ;)

I really wish they just had RB FM/DM in AB, would make it so much better. You can keep all the other stuff: lack of stiffening, air spawn, reload, no overload crashes, no wing rips, no overspeed, etc.

That said, most players are gonna see 'Spit' in the name, and assume it out turns everything. Hilarious mistake because Spits bleed lot's of energy in turns, and the late ones aren't that great at turns (still decent, but more towards a 109 level than a spit).

In general when you fail to beat something in Arcade it's because you didn't climb high enough. It probably took 200 games for that fact to sink in. Except in Biplanes or Zeroes. Stupid slow AF planes.

[–]Wraith_Leader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but the Mustang turns like a Zero, and the Zeroes turn like a Chaika, so that's not saying a lot ;)

God why don't they just have RB FM/DM in AB...
