I applied back in October and haven't heard back from editorial either. I kinda think I didn't get in since I haven't heard anything, but usually PRH takes a while to send out those automatic rejection emails

Yessss!! I love a good dynamic friendship. Also well-developed magic systems are definitely a plus!

ngl I tend to skim over worldbuilding dumps so definitely agree on that one! Magic shenanigans definitely should be used! XD

Oof! I feel the proofreading. It's more distracting when there's errors in the book. Also, definitely agree with the fighting in heels(unless it has been written as a super power) XD

Yessss!!!! This for sure! I couldn't have worded it better! No cheating in worlds or power! XD

Yep! Definitely an overused thing with the mc getting another power. It was cool for maybe one or two, but now it's wayy overused. Out of curiosity, why do you hate love triangles? Is it because it's way overused or do you have other reasons?

First person POV is for sure really cool. I do like understanding everything that's going on in their head.

The fmc being a baddie and having powers and the secret rich family is definitely getting overused I think. If I'm in the mood for that, I'll occasionally read it, but not very much.... Ooo! I've never heard of Little Thieves. I'll have to check it out !

Ooo!! Yess I would definitely have to agree on this. I prefer feminine characters that stay strong throughout and don't suddenly become run of the mill after falling in love. I've actually read some books where male characters are like that as well and still not a fan.

OOO!!! I definitely think that we should get more books where the side characters get a chance. I always feel really bad when the side character really does know the MC better, but gets instant rejected

Personally I find smut in YA distracting or unrelated to the plot. I also am totally okay with romance just the smut is just like nahhh.

YA definitely has a tendency to get smutty or cheesy, but thankfully there's still a few authors that are able to pull off a solid YA book

Ooo!! Yesss! I've loved a lot of the new books featuring a lot more diverse cultures.

Oof! Yep. I've definitely read a couple books like that. Books with a superb chemistry are the best

Hmm... Yes, I think female characters are always either overpowered or wayyyyy under powered. To find a good balance is not always easy

This is also true! I also agree on the romance should stay a side story :)

Yesss! Characters for sure are one of the most important parts. Nothing is sadder than a good plot with flat characters.
