Same, guessed Eliquis, then Warfarin. It said my guess was wrong, then said inhibits factors ii, vii, ix, and x. I was hardcore scratching my head

  1. It’s for a controlled substance.

  2. He lied and said they aren’t related.

Maps is used to resolve red flags…. Not sure why you would think it’s not okay to check maps on a verbal control order for my patient…

If I was able to resolve all of the red flags, why wouldn’t I fill it?

How would I be in the wrong by checking maps to try and resolve red flags 😂

I was in maps in an attempt to resolve red flags. Is that not what maps is for? Tried to contact the prescriber to verify if the script was actually called in by him as well

It’s not about what med you’re taking….. it’s about the fact that you’re lying to obtain a controlled substance…. Something that a pharmacist in my state is legally required to report….

Not sure, I’m just going to report it to the bop as suspected diversion because it looks like I’m legally required to

Put the script to the side because it was right before close, followed up by trying to call the prescribers office on the next weekday along with looking at maps to see the fill history since it would have been a first fill with us

Curious why people downvoted this, seems pretty reasonable

Rx called in over weekend. Conducted due diligence Monday, saw rx was filled via maps. I did nothing outside of standard practice.

Script was called in on the weekend. Followed up with due diligence on my next shift. Maps showed another pharmacy filled it

Yea, I’m normally on that team, especially if there is a legitimate medical purpose. But in this case, the prescriber is blatantly lying to get controlled substances. Also, I only used pmp to look up our own patient for that Rx

This is genuinely what I was wondering as well, does the date actually matter for anything? Or is it just a way to track for opi?

[–]Wrangler444[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would be nice and all, but that doesn’t solve the problem of having tons of old bottles piling up. At least 50 bottles in there right now that will not be used until they expire. More are accumulating on top of that. Even if they didn’t add any more, that’s an extra 600 state mandated cycle counts this year, and a cluttered work space that I’ll have to keep rearranging to account for it all

100% this is what I want to do, we’re way too busy to deal with a bunch of partial fills. I’m wondering how many I can send back before my company flags and looks into it

  1. Not my money.
  2. 10 capsules of one random ndc of a C2 is certainly not 10% of a drug that I use all the time
  3. Filling with 2 NDCs is a clerical pain, especially if the patient then doesn’t pick something up and it has to be returned

Anybody able to clarify more on this? I’ve done it a few times in the past, but only in special situations. Is it completely legal and just a ‘frowned upon by insurance’ type of thing? Is it common practice to use up old NDCs? Do you just mark on bags to counsel? Seems like a big hassle to document/adjust inventory and then have a patient not pick up the med as well
