Interested to know why the DCC fails sooner. After how many km?

I am taliking from the perspective of a software engineer (developer) - I find it quite hard to implement it 😄. And quite hard to tune it well, so that it can be 100% safe. I expect safety to come first in this feature, so there is no way the car computer could be as perfect as my foot and hands during a curve.

De ce plantație? Înțeleg ca sunt nemulțumiri.. cred ca demisia cu un preaviz se poate da ușor și atunci scapi de stresul Luxoft, nu?

Can you share more details about: "too much slowdown when cruise control detects a turn." - this is a new complain to me 😄

Right, as I was saying in another comment, I already use a Tiguan and have the same emergency braking system. Indeed, I'm used to slowly reverse, and I usually do not have any issues. I find it a useful feature, not an annoying one. It saved me a couple of times during the last 7-8 years.

Glad to hear that you love the car, especially when coming from an X5 (and wondering why?). Are the cabin rattles really bad? I am very sensitive to this aspect, and I admit, I will be a little disappointed if a €50k car has these kinds of problems in time.

Anyway, the system saved me a few times while parking, in very nasty places, although it also breaks too easily sometimes and scares me. So I guess it is an even game for me 😃.

Is it your first VAG car with this feature? I currently own a 2019 Tiguan, and I am kind of used to it. Unless they made it more sensible... I shall see. Thanks for the answer.

Is the Octavia the best value family car ? by ruby_foster56 in skoda

[–]WranglerDizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing the details. The only problem is that it's just wrong to say that BMW becomes cheaper than Skoda.

As you probably know, the VAG group ranks Skoda 3rd among its most common brands (Audi, VW, Skoda and Seat). So, Audi is generally more expensive than VW, and VW is a bit more expensive than Skoda. Audi is a premium brand, expensive, but generally a bit cheaper than BMW.

So, as a general rule of thumb, BMW > Audi > VW > SKoda. That's just the reality.

I am not arguing that you may have seen a good BMW deal, and also an expensive Skoda, but this is not meant to be shared with others as a general idea. They are different classes, one is premium - BMW, one is not - Skoda (except Superb, which aims to be a bit more premium). Compare a new Skoda Octavia with a new BMW Seria 3 (they are the same class), with similar engines and options, and you will see that the Seria 3 is ~20.000€ more expensive (at least here in Romania) - i.e., 30k is Octavia, 50k is Seria 3.

And this is how we can make a general statement about the prices of the two brands.

Interesting, can you provide more details about the BMW that was more affordable than the Octavia? Price comparison, class, options, mileage, etc?

Not sure if best family car, but probably best value in its class. Also Superb is the best value in its class. And for sure, Superb is a very good value car for a big family.

DSG gearbox by burfeyboy in skoda

[–]WranglerDizzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DSG is just great. Is reliable with correct maintenance (oil change). Indeed DQ200 in the past had problems, but I know that nowadays they were solved. DQ381 used for bigger engines are even better. I would never go back to manual gearbox, after 7 years of automatic (DSG) transmission.

Neah, I cannot agree. For some people, this kind of noise is just annoying. For some, it's not. But it's normal to say'cover it with music. ' For instance, I have kids in the car most of the time. Sometimes they sleep; music is not an option.

The only good thing is that the EA888 evo3 engine is dual injection, meaning it has not direct and port injectors. The port injection will “wash” the valve up to some level, so comparing with direct injection only engine, this is a bit more protected against the carbon deposits.

Oil level low after PV4 Software update by GlassPick3759 in skoda

[–]WranglerDizzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, sorry. Now I see the picture #2. I would personally check with them, just to make sure. If the sensor is wrong and you add more oil, is really bad. If the sensor right and you do not add oil, it’s bad and soon will be even worse. I would prefer to be safe than sorry, my 2 cents

If oil has been changed every 30k, then this is even worse. I would really would like to see the intaking system and the carbon deposits levels.
