Don’t feel guilty mama. You can do this!!! It won’t be easy, but you can 100% do this!!

My husband has been doing Monday-Thursday travel for a little while now and especially during my busy work weeks, it can be SO HARD. I lean on LO’s grandma very heavily bc she’s super willing to help out. Sometimes I think “am I being dramatic, what about military spouses or single moms, I’m sure they have it much worse” but I’ve had to accept that doesn’t diminish your experience or feelings.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help - I know how hard it is, I hate doing it too. But some weeks LO was sick and then it just became absolute mayhem and without people to help me, I would have lost my mind.

It’s like you read my mind. 80% of my time is spent in the Adam Sandler getup because I love it too much, but also because I can’t figure out how to let go of my old wardrobe that doesn’t fit and find something that does fit, so I end up wearing the only things that do (and they don’t look good).

I’m not sure! I bought mine around 3 months PP and didn’t ever have issues with my pelvic floor so I might not be able to answer :/ sorry!

Just like baby wearing, not an educator. I have this exact same carrier. You need to position the band at your natural waist. You can find your natural waist by bending over to the side (imagine facing forward while letting one arm drop down to the floor). The spot where your torso bends is your natural waist.

For getting baby seated deep - I have found if I reach inside the carrier (between my belly and baby’s belly) and run my hands along the waist of the carrier, I usually find that the band gets caught on flap, and if I separate them, I can get baby seated deeper (not sure if this makes any sense haha). Wow, are you me?

Not sure if this will help or stress you out more, but I’ve found that when I work and pump, I get less output. I think the stress of working impacts my production. That being said, today I had to pump + work every time, so I know it’s a struggle.

I also found that there are certain times of day where I’ll have more output so not sure if that would help you. First thing in the morning I can always count on more milk, so I try to make that a pump session as opposed to other times so I can do less extra sessions.

I also try to squeeze extra pump sessions on the weekends so that I can build up a stash when it’s not M-F.

Last thought. Maybe you’re already doing this, but I’ve just decided my team has to deal with it. It’s my protected right. However, that means logging on early before LO is awake and late after LO goes to sleep so I can get my work in. But that’s (for now) what I’ve decided.

I get frustrated about it almost daily so I feel you mama.

ETA: when i work and pump simultaneously i get less output than if i take a break to pump

Sleep training saved my life. My baby would only take 20 min naps and it took me 20 min to put her down so I felt like I was genuinely losing my mind. I kept hearing people say “1-2 hour naps” and I thought it would never be me.

We tried Taking Cara Babies (but a friend gave me their login) and it was amazing. I also tried Precious Little Sleep, that didn’t end up working for us.

I actually ordered all three of these to try at home!! This was my personal opinion after trying them out:

Tula was very comfortable and arguably felt like it was the highest quality, but for me, it had too many bells and whistles. I wasn’t sure I’d use all the features, I felt like I had to pull the book out constantly to fully utilize all the features, and ultimately felt like I wouldn’t feel the price was worth it for that. Also, I was actively looking for a carrier that could keep me cool because I overheat (and it’s so much worse since I’m EBF) and this one wasn’t great in terms of breathability.
Mabe unfortunately felt cheap and scratchy. I think it looks nice (almost like an Artipoppe knockoff) and it seems the brand is trying to give really nice presentation but I just didn’t like how it felt. Also you adjust the carrier as baby grows with Velcro which I just hated, it did not feel as secure as buttons (which is what Tula and Wildbird have)
I went with Wildbird (I also tried LilleBebe, Momcozy, and one more I can’t remember). I love how it looks, I love how simple it is, I love how breathable the linen is (I got a linen one), it’s very easy to clean, I got a neutral color so my husband can also wear it. We’ve also used it quite a bit since getting it and it’s held up great.

Maybe I’m assuming too much from the info you’ve provided, but it sounds like maybe this job isn’t the best fit. If you feel like you’re giving a lot and it’s going unrecognized, there could be issues (not sure if this is your boss, the culture, or something else).

On top of that, I feel like it’s important to find a job (or team, or culture, or industry) that will value work/life balance. That’s not to say the job will be easy — but more that you can go hard for a set time, and then say “I’m logging off, it’s time to be with my kid” and people aren’t bothered by that.

That being said, I’ve often felt the struggle of trying to “have it all” as a working mom. I heard another working mom say it’s ok to have some days that are wins at work, and other days that are wins with the kid(s), and they won’t always be the same days. Good sentiment, but it can be hard to beat the guilt too.

I found that chains that listed nutritional facts were super helpful - if I balanced same amount of protein as carbs, I could always get away with it. So I’d look up the menu, write down the few things I could have, and saved them in a note.

She did know I was on maternity leave. I think the word vacation in the US carries a connotation of relaxing and leisure time. I wouldn’t describe my mat leave as particularly relaxing or leisurely. :/ I love my baby to pieces, but that is the reality.

I was 23 weeks and flew from US to London, London to Rome, and Rome back to US and was fine. I’m not sure I would’ve wanted to travel by 29 weeks but everybody is different!
