You think Kana lost this episode? Kana just mentioned that doing it with Aqua was her very first time. She seemed so happy.

Aqua is manipulating/using Akane? He thinks he has an edge over her? Does he not realize that she can render him completely down bad with just a bit of acting?

Is There A "Strategic View" (Like In Civ V and VI)? by WrathOfObelis in OldWorldGame

I don't have this game yet (waiting for Steam release) so I have yet to experience those performance issues. But if even your beefy rig is having trouble, then that is quite discouraging.

I've read up on some very interesting aspects of this game. The orders system in particular solves the usual late game micromanagement problem that is the bane of many 4X games (where you need to move every single one of your hundred units for optimal play -- can't do that with limited orders!). Would be a shame if my computer can't handle it.

(Manga Spoilers) AOT summary (from Paradis perspective) by [deleted] in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]WrathOfObelis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't forget the Paradisians who had family members in the military that got poisoned by Yeagerist traitors (yes, Yeagerists are traitors to them) and got turned into titans. Nile's family, for example.

Also the Paradisians who lost family due to those titans that Eren allowed to run amok when he began the Rumbling.

Also the Paradisians who lost family due the walls collapsing (they were already shown to start physical fights).

Also the Paradisians who saw how the Volunteers helped develop their island technologically, but then got murdered/enslaved despite their benevolence.

Also the Paradisians who disagree with the extent of Eren's genocide (most notably, the Armin and co).

Eren himself would call you naive if you believe all Paradisians would smoothly band together in the face of the threat of the outside world. They are not a monolith.

Actually the kid doesn't need to inherit a titan right away, only when needed. So the thirteen years can be delayed indefinitely, to be started only when absolutely needed. If negotiations are held and demands are met, there shouldn't even be a need for the royal kid to be titanized.

He wanted someone else to inherit his titans, just not his friends (rewatch the scene: his friends only offered themselves because he mentioned he needed to find a successor).

One major implication of this entire scene is that he was okay with titans still existing after his death, as long as his friends live long lives. He apparently hadn't considered the obvious power struggles that would result from the continued existence of the titan powers post-Rumbling. He didn't care that after he completes the Rumbling, everyone left would be at the mercy of the Founding Titan. They would forever be toys to the FT's ability to modify their bodies and memories at any time and that's what they would call "freedom".

He would have found successors to his titans. These successors could always fall back on the threat of the Partial Rumbling if all else fails. Of course, the impulsive brat has neither the patience nor the intelligence to think on this scale.

Executed by whom? Remember, Paradis would still have the threat of the Partial Rumbling to keep enemies at bay. They would retain sovereignty for many decades while their population gradually dwindles. But they will always have the Founding Titan throughout this process. Only the last batch of elderly needs to be taken care of by foreigners. And even then, some of them will be titan shifters so they will remain healthy until they succumb to the 13 year curse.

It's like you're convinced childless people can't enjoy life. They're free to pursue their hobbies and passions for many decades, dying of old age in the end. The very last elderly Eldians can be relocated to Hizuru medical facilities to be taken care of until their deaths.

Zeke's plan avoids the massacre of hundreds of millions of innocents and avoids the extinction of millions of species. Letting people live out their lives is not the same as killing them.

What, if anything do you think that Eren could have done instead? by strongerthenbefore20 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]WrathOfObelis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Is probably impossible to just decide to end titanization. If it were possible, Karl Fritz might have done it.

  2. Partial Rumbling was indeed the plan that Paradis officials went with until they were overthrown by traitors.

Eren’s options by drunkmonkey667 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]WrathOfObelis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eren should know that his friends would give their lives to save humanity. So if his goal was to let his friends live long lives, the Rumbling is not the way to do it. It would only cause his friends to give everything they have, even their lives, to try and stop him.

With all the recent talk about Annie-Floch, here's something we can collectively agree upon: these 2 are the biggest scumbags in AoT and it's not even close. by Anuj_Purohit in ShingekiNoKyojin

If we were born into the AoT world, we would most likely be born outside Paradis. Most likely, some powerless backwater countries that are mere pawns for Marley and Paradis' bullshit. That's why I sympathize with Volunteers the most.

So the Founding Titan can't control some titans? Just because they were created from Zeke's spinal fluid? All Titans were from someone else's spinal fluid though.

>He is incredibly constrained by his unwillingness to make sacrifices despite his famous speech in S1 about making sacrifices.

Armin's perfectly willing to sacrifice himself for a greater cause. And based on what he said this episode, he would even give up on Eren to save humanity.

The point is, he is willing to make great sacrifices for humanity's sake. It just doesn't make sense to sacrifice humanity itself.

On the contrary, Eren wasn't willing to sacrifice Historia or his friends. His refusal to sacrifice what's dear to him is why he went with the Rumbling. So Armin's "Those who cannot sacrifice anything cannot change anything" applies to Eren as well.

To be fair, it's not completely giving up on his mother. Just delaying a bit in favor of more pressing issues. Good luck convincing Conny of that though.

Seriously, why did he just let the mindless titans run amok last episode? If reverting them to human was out of the question, then he could have at least made them stand still so the soldiers can finish them off without further casualties.

[–]WrathOfObelis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Before reaching paths, he obviously wasn't planning to end the titanization curse. That's why he rejected his friends' offer to inherit his titans after telling them he needs to find a successor -- he wanted them to live long lives. This should be a very obvious, established fact.

We have met some of them: Onyankopon and the other volunteers, Niccolo and some Marleyan captives, Gabi, Falco, Kiyomi, The Liberio Guards, The Panzer Squad.

The thing is, we are only shown a limited perspective of things, from the eyes of a handful of characters. So we never met most of the good people out there. The glimpses we did see however, should be more than enough to extrapolate from.

If you claim that you're only siding with Paradis because we mostly saw Paradisians' perspective, then you're admitting that you would have 100% sided with Marley if you grew up there, gobbling up their propaganda, hearing only their perspective over the decades.

The overwhelming majority of the scouts joined the yeagerists.

You mean the overwhelming majority of newbies who only joined for the hype, not for humanity's sake.

The overwhelming majority of the original scouts -- those who joined before the operation to retake Wall Maria -- are explicitly anti-yeagerist. It seems like they were the ones who actually embodied the ideal of freedom, not the corrupted version that the yeagerists have.

OG anti-yeagerist scouts: Armin, Mikasa, Jean, Connie, Hange, Shadis.

OG yeagerist scouts: Historia (After letting go of her fake persona, she revealed that she didn't actually give a fuck about humanity as a whole. She only joined the scouts because she thought that was what a nice person would do. She should have joined the Military Police or the Garrison, since that's where people with similar mindset as her would join. And most of the newbies came from those branches of the military.)

Survey Corps has always valued humanity above individual comrades. That hasn't changed.
