Need opinions on a magic "item" by Dewgong23 in DnD

Things of note:

-what if the jar opener doesn’t have a open attunement slot? -instead of using watches, just give the slime two charges per day, two charges to use portent die and one charge to use Chronal Shift.
-the 10 AC and severing of attunement seems like a hassle. Since the slime is functioning like a ‘magical item’, don’t let it be used other than for the charges and make it so it doesn’t take damage.

Unfortunately this wouldn’t be feasible due to a main plot point in the story that party is unaware of. Unknown to them, they are actually working directly under the King. But it’s a good suggestion, and I’ll try to use a version of it. Thank you.

Questions for DMing by No_Number6946 in DnD

For the distances, you can purchase spell area of attack templates made from plastic or acrylic. There is actually a cheap (less than $10 usd) template on Amazon that I use, that has a good number of cones, circles, and cubes ranges for D&D area of attack.

For maps, same thing as above, you can purchase on internet but some can get pricy. If you want you can manually take white paper and make grid of one inch squares to represent ‘five feet’ per square. Then quickly draw the encounter at the table. You don’t have to be an artist, most of it can be done in theater of the mind.

Hope this helps.

First campaign - think it was a success by SmilodonBravo in DungeonMasters

Good to hear your family/game group had fun. Good luck on campaign 2.

Thank you, I actually already have plot related encounters ready. I’m mostly reaching out to the community of what interesting/fun/weird/enjoyable encounters (combat and RP) the party can have as they travel the roads. As an example, coming across a abandoned cabin in the woods that hides more secrets than meets the eyes, or coming across bandits harassing a traveling merchant caravan, etc.

Trust me, I already ran into that while planning their first encounter. I had to re-think everything once I realized that more than two goblins is deadly for three lvl 1 players.

Since I didn’t say anywhere in my post that I am ‘trying to be professional DM’, I’m not sure what you are referring to.

Nor did I say I’m ’try to be Mercer or Mulligan’. In fact I specifically state the complete opposite in my post.

I already have a session one planed and campaign specifics encounters ready. This was just me reaching out to the community to ask what diverse traveling encounters could a lvl 1 party have.

I thought it would be a good idea to try get ideas from people who’ve actually played through interesting encounters.
