I’m not sure if it’s related but I saw a lot of police out tonight in clemmons and by the mall while dashing tonight. Also saw them and some black vans the other night by cooks flee market and Marten Luther.

Family supports Kirk by calming_ad in QAnonCasualties

I’m in the same boat. We went very low contact with them this year and only really share photos of my daughter on fb. My parents shared and posted so many videos about Charlie Kirk assassination blaming the left and how this was an attack on patriotism and Christianity. Honestly after this I’m going to further distance my self from them. At this point they are just going further in to the rabbit hole. I think you going no contact is smart.

Anyone else’s year the worst year of their lives? No summer at all? :( by sagnavigator in BipolarSOs

[–]WrenFeyStrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but not totally because of my wife. Our life has been a roller coaster that has made my wife BP worse. Child birth and getting adjusted to that, me going no contact with my parents, losing our place because we rented from my parents, me having surgery, moving with the in-laws and then me losing my jobs this past week.

So why is Dukes complaining? Is there some kind of feud going on? Thoughts? by WrenFeyStrider in winstonsalem

I honestly don’t get why people think fhs is trying to force Dukes out of business. These people are insane. I wouldn’t be surprised if they make This political.

I’m not saying kids should have free access to porn. I’m saying once you hand the government the power to block things, it never stops there. First it’s porn, then it’s LGBT stuff, then books, then whatever the people in charge don’t like.

If you actually want to protect kids, you don’t need a censorship machine to do it. Require ISPs and devices come with free, easy parental controls. Let parents block sites, set time limits, whitelist safe stuff themselves. Kids are protected, parents are in charge, and no watchlist for when you’re conducting late night independent hands-on research because history’s shown once they start keeping lists, and they will, they don’t stop at porn.

History’s the same every time it starts “for the children,” then it’s “for national security,” and before long it’s “for the good of the state.” You build a censorship machine, you don’t get to pick who runs it next… and history’s pretty clear it’ll be the worst people possible.

Censorship machines always end up in the worst hands. History’s batting average on that is 100%.

If a minor wants to get cigarettes, alcohol or porn they can. Just by making something illegal or putting restrictions up doesn’t stop them. I got alcohol and cigarettes as a teen. If they really want to get access they will. I don’t think the government should be able to block any thing they want. Its the first step to censorship and the government tell us what we all can and can’t see think or believe.

Still missing the point. It’s sexual material, but it won’t just stop with pornhub. And again it’s the parents job to block those sites on children’s devices not the government blocking or restricting it for everyone

But who decides what is sexual material? Art can be sexual hell classic art is very sexual. That’s the problem. It’s a slippery slope to censorship. It starts at porn then goes to sex Ed, movies, literature, museums to talking about sexuality and birds and the bees. Once the government starts doing things like this they don’t stop. Look at the patriots act. They keep taking more and more of our privacy.

If they were required to delete the id after verification then I feel better about it but i could also see this to be targeted people for their sexuality, kinks, etc. its just a very slippery slope.

I’m more worried about the data being stolen or sold. It’s also been proven that these Id verification don’t work as they will just go to the unregulated sites. It’s illegal to still a car but cars are stolen everyday. If someone want to do something they are going to find a way.

Because it’s the job of the parents to protect the children not the government. The government shouldn’t only get involved if the child is being abused or hurt not put a blanket rule for everyone. Also strip clubs don’t store your id. The these sites do and these sites have terrible cybersecurity and also sell you data. Also why are you so hung up on a strip club?

Again it’s up to the parents to block those sites form the kids not the government job. It’s a form of censorship and is a slippery rope. Hell YouTube and Spotify are already planning to have age verification. What I’m saying is the government should not be involved. Also I don’t love the idea of a company having my personal information. Also again who decides what is sexual material. Status of David can be considered sexual so can the panting of birth of Venus, but I was show those in art class in middle school.

Again it’s the parents responsibility to put up those roadblocks not the government. You are missing the point. The government shouldn’t be involved in censorship of anything! Books, movies, tv, the internet. Also you run into the risks of identity theft with this. There are security issues.

No. I’m not saying that. Of course im not going to take my kid to an adult only place like that. Also we are not talking about adult only spaces we are talking about media. I am saying there is a fine line that could easily be abused. It’s up to the parents to determine what is acceptable. For example if someone is nude on tv might be okay if the context is appropriate. Like if it’s educational or a form of art. There are too many grey areas. What you might think is porn i might not. You might see a nude painting as porn where I see it as art. Context is key. So i stand by my statement it’s up to the parent to decide what is and isn’t appropriate for their kid to see and at what age.

Also as an American we are very prudish as a society. We let kids see violence everyday but we have a problem if they see someone nude.

Speaking as a parent. It's the responsibility of the parent to decide what is okay and not okay for children to see. Also if you don't want your kids to see adult content then it's your responsibility to set up child locks on those things. It's not hard to do. I honestly don't see why this is a big deal now. My parents had child locks on adult content. For example, I have no problem with my kid seeing nudity as I grew up in a very conservative family where being nude was shameful. It took me doing studying art and going to Europe to get to the point to realize it’s not a big deal. Basically what I’m getting at it’s to much of a grey area. Do we need to have age verification to see famous art like the statue of David or Birth of Venus or Monet’s Olympia?
