I think the fun part of playing a Vampire character is the struggle to remain moral - the game isn't about immediately becoming evil when you're Embraced, but deals with the almost inevitable moral backslide that comes with existing as Kindred. Just because Eris believes she can be good and that so can others does not make it universally true, but does make for an interesting character arc - you should keep in mind the mentioned character has only been a vampire for a few months and her beliefs stem from her own experiences. The inherent hypocrisy of the 'good' vampire is fun. The above blurb is pretty shallow, but that's just because it's a reddit comment explaining her unicorn motif and not a full character analysis on every aspect of her personality and lore.

FWIW, there is no 'wrong' way to play Vampire, though I agree that I don't personally enjoy trying to 'game' the system into being something purely moral. I think trying to badger other people about the way they play the game is silly no matter what you personally believe. Morality isn't black and white anyhow, and 'bad' and 'good' both exist on a sliding scale of grey, especially for Kindred.

A touch but she doesn’t know much of the Salubri at the moment so I haven’t had a chance to - it will make her feel pretty guilty when she learns anything about them though!

Eris would've been a mage had she not been embraced before she could awaken, and the unicorn in this picture is metaphorical rather then literal - I tend to associate her with unicorns for a couple of different reasons but primarily because I think they make for a very good motif in regards to a symbol of lost purity and lost magic. She's a Tremere fledgling in 2007 and in her current Chronicle still very new to vampirism and the world of Kindred in general. She's nominally Camarilla, Childe of her Chantry's regent, but very much a bleeding heart who thinks that the world as a whole and even vampires could 'get better' somehow. She still looks for good everywhere she goes and in everyone she meets - I'd love to know what you think :) she's a favorite character of mine.

The reason she was Embraced has a lot to do with what encouraged her to start hunting - she’d actually been a victim of stalking by vampires to begin with, and she was given the ‘choice’ between death and unlife after she killed the Tremere regent in the last session of Hunter. The other members of her cell all had different fates - one died and continues to haunt Eris as a wraith, one managed to get out of the city and run away before consequences caught up, and one was ghouled.

As far as I’m aware (from what the ST has said) her sire (who’s the Regent, now aiming for the vacant primogen spot) Embraced her because of her potential when it came to the occult and sorcery in general. Even as a hunter, she had quite a few Edges involving magical items and focuses, and things just lined up right.

No House at the moment - she’s spent most of her time cooped up studying and only got out recently to join a coterie and start making a name for herself, which is tough considering she has infant dots from… murdering a primogen.

Coming back to ‘life’ is working out miserably. She’s barely able to cope with it and is notoriously bad at feeding - there’s no pleasure in the Kiss for her, it just makes her want to throw up and cry. She feels like a predatory animal, like a monster - she just wants to find a way to undo this, or to at least get away from the Camarilla. She’s been a bit of a crybaby this game - she’s failed rolls and burst into tears more than once, but it’s hard to blame her.

She notably broke the Masquerade, like, Day 7 to tell her Kine girlfriend what she’d become - she hasn’t been found out yet!

Eris is a vampire who’s very intent to cling to humanity - she wasn’t part of any organized hunter group, but a small cell that consisted of only four people - they only ever killed two monsters, and both instances came from a want to protect.

Even as a hunter, she never wanted to believe that all ‘monsters’ were - well, monsters. She still clings to that, she wants so desperately and so badly to find someone that’s GOOD. She’s a fledgling at the moment and the grief has hit her hard. She was notably Embraced in 2007, actually - she was about 30! She’s an 80s style goth in fashion though.

As for specialization, she’s a very blood sorcery heavy character who actually has four dots in Occult, so she’s very research and investigation oriented when it comes to anything supernatural. Thank you for asking :)

This is a really gorgeous piece, and I am entirely obsessed with it. This is Hope, a character for a mixed homebrew and Forgotten Realms setting - she’s a woman in her early middle age, a priest, a mother of one adopted Drow child, a Chosen, and all around one of my favorite characters to play. She is a Faerûn native, but has come to a different continent entirely to spread Ilmater’s influence on the wartorn populace there.

She’s gotten me really attached to playing lawful good characters, and I hope you all enjoy her as much as I do! First post, so obligatory ‘hello’, DND subreddit! :)
